I'm trying to get the word out about a wacko who is targeting women with dogs in Park Slope. I had a verbal altercation with him in the spring of 2010 in the park near 11th St while I was walking a dog. In March 2011, he verbally abused and then spat on a woman walking a dog on Prospect Park West between 11th and 12th streets. Then in April, he verbally abused and threw a trash can at a woman walking a dog. Just yesterday he verbally abused a woman with a dog on 6th Ave near 10th St. Two of the victims have filed police reports but the police are not following up. I saw him enter the basement apartment of 160 15th St. I'm assuming he lives there. He's white, about 6'2", late 40's / early 50's, slender. I just want the community to be alert and hopefully stop this guy.

What does he say? I mean, is it because those women have a dog and he hates dogs? But then, why women and not men?
-
i'm not going to relay verbatim but his comments are about the woman not the dog. if you read the post he is acting violently which is what i and other women are concerned about. as far as why he is targeting women with dogs: misogyny? how would i know.
-
you post his description and address, but won't explain what he's said? . . . .
-
why do you want to know?
-
It's a valid question, and seems quite reasonable given the circumstances, and you did post his address with little hesitation...

It was verbal abuse. It's so odd to me that the focus here is on knowing exactly what he said and not on what he did. How does knowing exactly what he said to these victims affect your response to this post? I did not post HIS address. I posted an address I saw him enter to warn people on that block. Look, I'm not on trial here. He is targeting women walking dogs in Park Slope. My goal was to alert the community.

People get into altercations on the street every day, and there are two sides to every story.
Reasonable people can disagree about what constitutes "verbal abuse", "harassment", and even "assault", so it's helpful to give a detailed explanation of what actually happened and allow people to form their own opinions instead of just posting - OMG there is a scary man who hates woman with dogs.
If your goal is to "alert the community", then you're doing it wrong. Disseminating fear, uncertainty, and disinformation does more harm than good.

Ditto cvarrick.
The more specific and detailed your description of events, the more able we are to identify the suspect as the person of whom you speak should he get into an altercation with someone else.
There are numerous tall white guys in Park Slope, all of whom could be get into an argument with a woman walking her dog. Should we be suspicious of all of them? How would anyone know which telling pattern of behavior to look out for - in this case his speech acts - if we don't know they type of verbiage he chooses in the harassment of women.
No one is putting you on trial. It's not strange that people would want a bit more clarity.

Hey, there is no need to get defensive. I appreciate you trying to warn people, but maybe being a little bit more specific would help to profile what kind of crazy person he is.

You really don't understand why there is some backlash against your original post?
