on 6/20 at 11:30pm my coworker and i were attacked by 4 what seemed to be teenagers/ late teens walking down Union St between 5th and 6th ave in Park Slope.
It was a busy evening with many people walking around when some one quietly came up from behind grabbed my hair and started punching me in the back and back of the head. 3 more joined in, i got to the ground, started yelling and started hitting back. one of them grabbed the back of my friends hair and started hitting her (she hit back too), i noticed one of the guys trying to take her purse and 2 guys were grabbing for my bag and purse i let them take the bag with my work shoes and apron and jeans in it when i realized they were trying to mug us. a delivery biker stopped and people ran over quickly as the muggers ran away with my stinky work shoes. The whole incident was about 15 seconds long. The police came and were great about everything, unfortunately we didnt get a look at any of there faces because they were holding the backs of our heads down and punching and kicking us. All we saw were 3 young black males ranging from 5'5-8 in height and a hispanic female about 5'4 ages ranging 15-20.
They seemed to be from around the neighborhood or close, they were hiding behind cars and clearly had a plan for the attack.
I will update if anything turns out from this incident, i'm relieved they took nothing of value and we walked away with just bruises.
      Be aware and be safe!

      Very sorry to hear.

School's out for summer, time for the hot-weather hijinks.

Since we don't have long stretches of rural dirt roads for drag races or suburban malls for other teen mischief I guess this is what we're stuck with.

if the girl was doing a grabbing could be a gang initiation.

Ah right, Wednesday is the official last (half) day, to pick up report cards.

Monday and Tuesday are not required due to lack of snow days this year.

This past week was in effect the last real week of actual school days.

I believe the dreaded English Regent exam was on Friday the 18th.

If these muggers were high school students, I fear they didn't prepare for the Regents.

Conversely, I am finding it difficult to fear youth whom simply lack dirt roads or malls.

This really has noting to do with nothing but.. This year schools got to choose how they were going to use their unused snow days. I know the way you described it is how PS 321 is ending the year. But my kids had June 8th off and do have regular classes the Monday and Tuesday.

Correct. School communities had to vote on whether to apply to get those snow days this week. I have no kids the next two days but the other school in my building does. Most kids will be in school.

However if these were high school kids they may not have had classes because of regents and whatnot,

Let's all agree to blame the teachers, and move on with our lives.
