I was walking down 7th Ave btw 3rd & Union. Almost every block has a newly installed freshly painted pedestal w/an electrical warning sticker on it. Sorry I don't have a picture to post. Anybody know what these are? All these base pedestals are near existing street lights, are we getting new more modern lights on 7th Ave? -blue

Parking meters. The electronic ones that spit out a little ticket that you place on your dash. Just like in the big city across the East River.

Yep, parking meters, the kind that give you a ticket to stick in your windshield.

cool, I was tired of cranking the old ones

the f*cked thing about these meters is that you'll never find a meter with leftover minutes again. Another way The Man is stickin' it to ya.

Tyrone Shoelaces.. I never thought about it quite that way before but I think you are right. I guess I had a positive take on these kind of meters because you can use a credit card and don't need to be walking around with 5 pounds of quarters to legally park your car. I remember when people had arguments against ez pass and metro cards. These were the waves of the future that we all catch and sometimes the trip to the shore turns out to be an easier one.

Why not just save the ticket you buy at one meter and keep it in your windshield for another meter? -

I know people who have done it successfully, maybe they were just lucky or maybe the cops, etc. walking by were just interested to see there was a ticket in the window and didn't bother to check the numbers. I know someone who does this constantly, of course, you are taking a chance. It sucks that we will no longer be able to pull up to a meter that stil has time in it, I coudl care less about being able to use a credit card, it's not that ahrd to keep some quarters in the car.

The boxes are on top of the pedestals and they are covered with plastic bags and all the guts have been removed from the parking meters Between Union and President, anyway....Don't get me started

They started to work on Wednesday and no there are signs on the meters that say they will be removed. So move your bike off that meaterDon't get me started
