How come we don't get a picture of the dog? ...I predict if he posted a picture of the dog, the dog world (i.e. FIDO) could figure out who the guy was in a matter of hours. Are we looking for a local hooker or one from outside the Slope? This story lacks crucial detailsFor better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

i think i recognize that hooker

OMG, this is too funny and probably fake, but funny nevertheless(\__/)

I think the dog went willingly. -
Are we sure the dog isn't the hookers madam? I hear they dress sorta like male pimps from the 70s. (readers: Lack of schlong indicates this is a female dog)For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

That is some weird penmanship. Based on the handwriting, I'd guess he/she's either an elderly European immigrant or a serial killer.
-
The most disappointing part of this story is that Gawker broke this story and not one of us Brooklynians. Come on! I know there are plenty of coop hippies on this site

Am I the only one having trouble following this story? So many questions. First, what does this have to do with the Coop? Was the hooker picked up there? Where on the Foodcoop.com site is this anyway? Why on Earth are the eyes and tattoo blacked out on a poster asking people to find this person? Why do you have a photo of a hooker?
-
Q: Am I the only one having trouble following this story? A: No Q: What does this have to do with the Coop? A: While I am not a Coop member, if a Hooker stole my dog, this would be among the first places I would post a flyer b/c I sincerely believe that Coop members are known to be experts at all things organic. Q: Was the hooker picked up there? A: Unknown. But if she was, did a volunteer wearing a bright orange safety vest escort the two home? Q: Where on the Foodcoop.com site is this anyway? A: Also unknown, but perhaps the coop has taken over the internet escort business as a result of Craigslist dropping such ads. I am told that the Coop always tries to help its members out, and stocks new products based on cusotmer interest. Q: Why on Earth are the eyes and tattoo blacked out on a poster asking people to find this person? A: Gawker speculates the following:
Over the image, someone (probably not the original poster) has taped the bit about the hooker.
Q: Why do you have a photo of a hooker? A: I'm told the stigma around hiring hookers has been evaporating, and -understandably- having a picture allows one to proudly show your friends who you were with last right. I am told the stigma around masturbation may be the next to go, leading some men to brag "Man I was all over myself last night. It was wild". Although I was not alive at the time, I miss the 1950s.For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor. -

It's not on the foodcoop.com site, it was (apparently) on a physical bulletin board located at the Coop. Think brooklynian, with real thumbtacks. Also, Gawker speculates that the addition was the little note that says "I hired a hooker...", not the blackout eyes/tattoo. At least I speculate that's what Gawker is speculating.Over the image, someone (probably not the original poster) has taped the bit about the hooker.

Q: Why on Earth are the eyes and tattoo blacked out on a poster asking people to find this person? A: they may well not have been blacked out. If so, it can't be that hard to find the person. Also, was the hooker hired to make the poster happy or the dog? Questions questions.

So someone else saw this flyer then went to the trouble of going to their computer, typed up "I hired a hooker and she stole my dog, waaaah!", then printed it out, cut it out, got tape, went back to the coop or wherever, and taped it on the poster? I'm not sure which I find more disturbing.having a picture allows one to proudly show your friends who you were with last right.
Agreed, but I didn't realize hookers are so willing to be photographed before (or after?) each trick.this would be among the first places I would post a flyer
I'd just ask Elliot Spitzer. I'm sure Governor Rough Trick knows her. -
whynot_31 » Q: Where on the Foodcoop.com site is this anyway? A: Also unknown,
It is not online. It is (was?) pinned to one of the sideboards that are keep at the staircase which leads to the second floor. I saw it briefly last weekend, while dropping by the office. I think is not smart to have taken a picture of the flyer and even less of Gawker to post it. No one knows who is the person in the photo. Why people think they can disseminate this kind of stuff on the Internet without problem? -
Arches and Puply- Given your knowledge of the high tech bulletin board presently in use at the coop and your love plants, I speculate that you may be a member of said organization. Does the Member Orientation explicitly prohibit members from posting pictures of hookers who stole their dog? ....are they aware of their potential liability steming from their members actions? Piano- I believe we should ask the coop people all of the questions about what hookers are willing to do. So far they are emerging as the experts on this thread. Patos- Dogs are naturally happy and have many willing partners. Only a fool would waste money on a hooker for their dog. Personally, I suspect that the hooker took the dog after the coop member engaged in activities that were beyond the scope of the original contract. (those coop members, always trying to get out of doing their shifts and get something for free. ....the nerve!)For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

I don't know, the dog might have had "specialist" tastes which the owner was unwilling or unable to provide. Like being taken for walkies by someone wearing a French maid's outfit...
-
I've actually been a Coop member for at least 10 years, and I know this staircase with all the posters. There doesn't appear to be any real governing authority over that board. It would be pretty easy to stick any poster saying anything up there, so this hardly warrants news coverage. It's like writing a story about a poster you found on a street lamppost. And yes, if any of you non members are wondering, it is pretty damn stupid to put a bulletin board on the wall of a staircase.

I've managed to keep my love of plants/compost seperate from co-op membership, believe it or not. I was once admitted as a guest, after submitting to a three hour interrogation in an ice-cold meat locker, signing away any future commercial rights to organic vegetable sales, and agreeing to never set foot in a Barney's co-op. But I still wasn't allowed to buy anything.

Although you may have 14 posts here, allow me to assure you such standards do not apply. Please, this thread is among the more newsworthy being discussed on the Park Slope Board at the moment. Where'd that person go that was looking for the organic smoothies? http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59272For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor. -

Then I'm bringing up those silly vests again. .....if organic vegetables are good for me, why are Ivy League educated lawyers and physicians required to escort them around while dressed up in bright orange reflective safety vests? ....they might as well wear hazmat suits! ...Clearly none of the food I buy from Key Food presents a danger to anyone else. ....they don't have to put such safe guards in place.

I wasn't crticizing this site for for it's news judgment. I know there's no news criteria necessary for this site, and that's good. People should be able to write about whatever strikes their fancy. I was referring to Gawker publishing this story, aren't they supposed to be a news site or something? They should have higher standards than this when it comes to news. For us, though, yes this is right in the Brooklynian's wheelhouse from what I can tell. -
In the co-op's defense (bet you never thought you'd hear those words from me!) the original flyer doesn't refer to the young lady as a hooker, only as a thief. The hooker language was added later by a very perceptive co-op member/volunteer. As for Gawker, the only thing that separates us from them is the millions of dollars their creator is making off that site. Hard news is the exception, not the rule over there.
-
Oy vey, Gawker has never tried to be anything other then a sensationalist TZM/Star/Enquirer paper. Come on, they own many sites, all devoted to a Reddit like posting of eye catching fluff news. Piano, no they are not a news site, they are Gawker: an entertainment site. I actually like them, it's good time-wasting BS just like this particular section of the board is supposed to be. And in the end, really people, this is a fake flier. It's a joke. Meant to fire up the Slopers and their sometimes uptight sensibilities. Don't make me tie up a ghost stroller on my corner to prove the point further... Okay, but was she a free-range, cage-free hooker fed on organic corn and spelt? I hope she hadn't been debeaked. You don't wanna know what they do to the factory-raised hookers, you really don't.i blame such comments on boredom and drinkng, this is why we need more green spaces

Very strange post. in regards to why there's a photo of a hooker, if the john found the hooker via an online site, she would have sent him a photo, with identifying details blocked out, for him to "assess" her. Dumb. Guy should have just posted a photo of the dog and not mentioned any of these details. Good for us he did!!!I believe in peace, bitch.

hookers should be legal. They serve a purpose, unlike dogs.
