   A cat followed me this morning to my apartment in 133 8th. Avenue, Park Slope. After contacting local organization FIDO, I took the cat to the 6th. Avenue Animal Clinic. It is a male cat, about 6 years old, very friendly, with a collar but not ID tags, he has a chip but it has not been registered, so no way to know the owner. I had to leave the cat at the vet, paying for the examination and tonight´s stay. I am hoping to receive news from the owner (seems a domestic cat, very friendly, might be from near where I live), but I can´t bring him home because I have two dogs in my apartment. I need to find a plan B in case nobody shows up in the next 48 hours (I will pay for a few days in the veterinary hospital, but the place is not a long-stay boarding facility).

   Do you have a pic that will help the owner identify the cat. Also what condition what the collar in? If he had been stray a while then it would be a bit bet up and worn. I would advertise the kitty as found on Craigslist with no pic and ask ppl who contact you to send a pic to verify, and tabby trackers WITH pic (I think it's $5), also check their lost section for matching kitties. Petfinder discontinued their classified section so that's no good. Also you can put up found signs in local businesses but if kitty has been a stray a while the owner may be long gone.

   If you bring kitty to the ACC it will likely end up being pts as they are a high kill shelter, the ASPCA dumps its extras at the ACC so dont bother there. I would start with local small rescued like Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella, Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, Zani's Furry Friends, Sean Casey, BARC. Explain you need a foster and your situation, if you offer them a donation as well it might help. I know your already laying out a bit on the vet but at the end of the day if you can afford to do it it's worth doing it right.
