      Prospect Park

If there’s anything good about bands like Helium and Sleater-Kinney breaking up (as long ago and as sad as it was), it’s bands like Wild Flag forming.

When Carrie Brownstein’s not out frolicking in Portlandia with Fred Armisen, she’s fronting this four-piece supergroup, playing charged indie punk rock with catchy hooks and tons of energy. Pairing the group with old-school Boston post-punkers Mission of Burma for Celebrate Brooklyn is almost too good to be true, but that’s exactly what’s happening this Friday at Prospect Park.

Not only are the two groups playing for free (yes, free!) but they’re also releasing a split 7″ only available at the show. This is one worth camping out all night for!

    2. I am totally going to try and sneak out of work early for this one. Sleater Kinney were AMAZING. I have great concert memories. Wild Flag should be awesome.

Do you watch Portlandia? I love Carrie. She is just so multi-talented

      I do.

This might be an occasion to talk about the Dead Milkmen.

Hey! I grew up seeing Mission of Burma in local bars in Wormtown... Hopefully they will be just as much fun as they were 30 years ago.

      That's why I don't drink the water.

I have a couple of those Dead Milkmen albums including Beezelbubba. I'm going to have to dig them out and listen to them again.

The price is its main selling point.
