...rush service in light of the fact that the store didn't tell me that they would be closing early on the day of pickup? Lemme explain... My computer was on the fritz so I took it in to a fix-it shop in the area on a Monday. They recommended I get rush service because the holidays were coming up, and I work some from home so I said OK. The fix it guy said it would be ready in two days, instead of 5-6 days, and I could pick it up Wednesday starting in the AM. On Wednesday, they emailed me, telling me the machine was ready. They didn't tell me the store would be closed at 1 PM. I worked til 6 PM so I couldn't pick it up. The next day was the holiday, so I couldn't pick it up then. The following day was Friday, and I wanted to pick up the machine then. I called the store, to make sure they were open, and no one answered. They were closed on Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday, it turns out. They didn't inform me of their amended hours, so I assumed that they would be adhering to their normal business hours... I emailed the proprietor, and asked if he would waive the "rush" charge, because I didn't derive the benefit of the rush service, because his shop wasn't open enough for me to pick up the machine. The owner declined to waive the fee.... Am I in the right here? Would you guys just say heck with it? I mean, if the store had informed me of their holiday hours up front, I would have realized I couldn't have picked up the unit, so I would have declined the extra rush service....... Looking for some collective wisdom here to weigh in, via the court of public opinion.... Thanks!

In this situation, the onus is upon you to know when the store is open, and on them to make sure you are aware of it, in particular if they closed early on Wednesday and were not open on Thursday-Sunday.
I'm curious how much the rush charge was as well. Regardless, they should have refunded it as a measureof good faith towards a possible ongoing client. For The Love Of Paris, Don't Go To The Lounge! -
Steve, do you work on Macs too, or just PCs?

Yes! This is a recommendation for Steve, who was very very helpful with my two crazy computers, and didn't make me feel like an idiot for my computer-ignorance.

Hmm. I've never considered a rush charge though I do have a higher rate for weekends and evenings. For The Love Of Paris, Don't Go To The Lounge!
