how many toy stores can park slope handle?

i noticed the other day that a toy store is going into the old flower shop location on 7th avenue, near garfield. maybe it was the same day i saw that little things had expanded into what used to be beastly bites. all this, just feet away from possibilities, which sells toys, right? and a block or so away from scaredy cat on fifth avenue, which has a nice display of toys in the back of the store. and apologies to any other business i'm forgetting to mention. and babeland doesn't count.

am i missing something? is there a huge, un-met demand for toys in the slope?

Park Slope seems to have more than its fair share of stollers - I mean children - on the sidewalks. Frankly, I don't think we're giving cloning the chance it deserves.

Don't forget the huge toy store on the 2nd floor of Neergard on 5th. (Don't play with the push-toys here unless you plan to buy, my wife got REPRIMANDED for that!)

There must be a lot of people around here that never heard of Amazon.com.

FYI..The concept of the expansion of Little Things in to another storefront is not so much an "expansion" but a separation. Educational, arts and crafts toys, stuff for older kids is being housed in the new store. The crowded storefront, though charming in an odd way was hard to negotiate when there were many shoppers. This new arrangements makes sense and I guess there will be "more merchandise" so this could be called an expansion. Kudos top Little things for still being in PS and trying to change with the current times.

fyi, back in the day Little Things was about three times its present size. It's good to see them expanding again.

The 2nd floor "toy" store of Neergard is on the bottom of my list to buy toys. The prices are very high, the selection not well chosen and the "help" does anything but help because they are distracted by boredom and their cell phones.

Heh, the new place on 7th next to Tutta Pasta is open now -- Norman and Jules Toy Shop. I didn't go in but it looked like a hospital waiting room from the sidewalk.

The Norman and Jules toy store has a "different" concept. I haven't been in there yet but saw some pictures on line and read up on it. The interior looks very "clean" with shelves set up high. If you were shopping with a kid there seemed to be no way for a child to just reach up and grab something from a shelf. Strikes me more of a place where adults have an option to choose educational, unusual, hand made toys to be given to a child. Wishing the owners good luck with the place.
