My husband bites/picks his nails incessantly and is looking for a way to stop. He's considering hypnotism... wonder if anyone could recommend someone in the neighborhood. Or another alternative cure would be great, too.

I have a great, inexpensive recommendation on this. I used the guy for smoking cessation and I have a friend who used him for nail biting.. it worked. he is not in PS but on Flatbush and around kinghighway. PM me if you want the name and details.

You are getting sleepy, very sleepy..... Now, coat your fingers with that stuff they sell that tastes like crap. Seriously, all you have to is create a negative association with the act of nail biting. Somehow (and this is not uncommon) your husband bites his nails when stressed (or feeling some other unpleasant feeling).. nail biting is a way of relieving that negative feeling for him. It's a familar act, it hides his face, it is a comfort. He needs an outside force is disassociate the act. A hypnotist would simply do what I just said in his subconscious... as an alternative just kick him in the nuts everytime you see him biting his nails. Problem solved. Your welcome

He's tried the yucky tasting stuff and since smacking his hand with the remote and making him wear gloves while at home so he has no access to his fingertips have not yielding any results, if he wants to try hypnotism, then I'm all for it. I'm skeptical, but if it's not too expensive, then it is worth the possibility of not working. It's obviously something internal and possibly learned as his brother and father share the habit, too... I just don't want our daughter to also end up doing it.
