Anyone have any info? Grabbed a small cone of pistachio. Pretty solid ice cream, a little pricey $3.95 but good for a treat. Young guy and girl serving from their truck. Thought I heard her say that they are going to be out every day!

He was getting hassled by the cops around 5pmDon't get me started

Woops, so much for being a go getter/let me make business person in NYC.
-
Who said NY was open to businesses? This city stinks for businesses large or small.

I just reviewed my observation with my other personality. "Hassled" might have been an overstatement.Don't get me started -
It must have been an ice cream truck from the twilight zone to be parked on 7th between carroll & montgomery
-
If we're talking about the same one, they were out again this weekend, on 7th between 1st and 2nd. They were at the Bell House for the Derby Day party too, but I didn't get a chance to stop either time, though I wanted to. Here's the web site. http://www.vanleeuwenicecream.com/

I saw the truck this weekend, as well. I'm all behind their concept, but just couldn't stomach (hee!) $4 for a small.Windsor Terrace=>Park Slope=>Prospect Heights=>Park Slope.

Last night, when the gf was craving a banana split, we went to the Hagen Daaz, where, after waiting on line for a while, we were informed that they were out of bananas. We passed by the truck and asked the guy if HE would make a banana split for us. He was out of bananas, too. We asked if we went across the street to Key Food and bought our own banana, would he make the split for us? He kindly said yes, and from this lovely human interaction proceeded one of the best banana splits I've ever had the pleasure to eat. Yes it was pricey ($8.00 is pretty steep), but man, when you're craving something, having that itch scratched with the freshest ingredients is one of the great experiences of being alive. And it was a bucket, just huge and full of dense, delicious, creamy ice cream, split between 3 people (a roommate helped a bit) it was a memory I will cherish. Seriously, man. It'll change your life.---------------------------------------------

It's delicious and worth the $4 in my opinion. The ingredients are high-quality. I dig the ginger and the gianduia (nom nom nom hazlenuts and chocolate!).

It's very pretty, as far as trucks go. Pretty truck= expensive ice cream."...you can choose the rain....but I choose the sun..." - N. Costa

Wow, SLW, you have me craving a banana split bad now!

On the same day, I think saw the same type of truck in SoHo. It was pale green and had just a few flavors but not the usuals (choc, strawberry). Looked good to me but I had my hands too full to hold a cone. Has this truck been out in Park Slope anymore and if so, where?
-
They were back out on 7th avenue earlier this evening across from Key Foods. Nice guy working the truck said he was moving down to 5th avenue at 8. Anyone see them down on 5th tonight? Tried the Ginger. Solid ice cream.

Hey, No-funky (above), not every parking regulation in the city is a cry to arms. Why don't you easy off the throttle on beating up the ice cream man. I am sure if there is a fire, he or she can start the ice cream truck's engine, and get out of the way in time. I guess you have no sympathy or toleration for the small business people, ah? So .............. He should get hassled? The only one who should get hassled is you. I see you have 506 posts. I'll bet a $4 sugar cone it's 506 stupid things stated, like your above comment, for no useful purpose. -
Whoa....saying someone should get hassled for parking at a hydrant does not mean someone is against a small business. In a fire, every second counts, and NO ONE should park at a hydrant. Hypothetically, let's say his truck stalls and he can't move.....what happens then. That being said...I haven't seen him but would love to try the ice cream!Peanuts

if i park my car at a hydrant all day i get hassled. if you park your car at a hydrant all day you get hassled. when the psychic winnebago parked at the hydrant ..guess what ..got hassled ...so please explain why the ice cream man shouldnt get hassled, just like everyone else? and it wasnt me on the throttle calling people to arms. it was an observation , you know a possible reason as to why he might be getting hassled ? excuse me for pointing out a possibility! another observation is that you cant read and completely blow things out of proportion.if he was parked at the fire hydrant like he was most of yesterday then he should get hassled.

Way too expensive. In a brick and mortar store, I expect to add lights, heat, payroll and of course rent to the price of the product, but a pretty truck doesn't seem to justify 4 bucks for a scoop of taro leaf swirl.
-
Not bad, very rich, not too sweet, the flavors are a bit too subtle for my taste. Call it ice cream for the fresh, heavy cream fetishist. I prefer the ice cream at Trois Pommes.

I have to agree with Garfunky on this. A hydrant "spot" is not your personal parking spot. There are no clones and rope or a banner hanging over with your name. Find another spot. I don't want to wait the precious seconds for you to move your hunk of shit while my house is on fire. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.Babies aren't meat! They're not even people!

Back to ice cream, I thought it was very good. I had the mint chocolate chip and found it excellent, the flavors were there but didn't smack you in the face. It was creamy and high quality, the cone was ok too.

Don't worry. That's not the sky falling, Chicken Little. But I would like some ice cream now.

if he was parked at the fire hydrant like he was most of yesterday then he should get hassled.[/quote] Agreed. I don't get to park in front of the hydrant without getting hassled, so why should any one else?I blame such comments on beer.

Had tried the vanilla. Pretty good overall.

Is he always parked in the same spot? I don't walk over there much, but am curious to try it... Also - I think the truck is supposed to be at this event this weekend - http://bklynyard.com/sat-may-23rd-bklyn-yard-opening-event-parked/
