I don't know for a fact, but if my experience of about six weeks ago is even remotely suggestive, be happy they're there. (I was attacked, beaten and robbed of everything but my clothes. I never even saw (it was 7:15 p.m.) or heard them.)

Wow, that sucks! And I think that's about when this started. Where were you attacked?
There are usually several cars around the bandshell 9th St playground area that circle the ballfields and come back to the playground area.
I'm not mad the cops are there, but they seem to almost be harassing everyone out. There has to be a better balance. Honestly, I and friends who spend a lot of time in the park have had a really hard time getting them to respond to things that are actually dangerous.
I actually walked up on a guy who, like you, got the shit beat out of him by a gang of kids in the middle of the day, out in the open, and was horrified at how long it took the cops to respond (and how they treated the victim!)
