Someone left a cat in front of our building in a crate on October 4. The cat did not belong to anyone in the building. We had to take her to the animal shelter because we are leaving for a trip and no one else could take care of her. If you know anything about this, please contact Animal Care & Control of NYC - Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The cat's carrier was labeled "Missy" and her Animal ID Number at the shelter is A0947881. Thanks.

I saw her briefly before jpl took her to the shelter, after calling some rescue places & feeding her. She appeared to be orange tabby/white bi-color. Her carrier was pretty beaten up and had the name "missy" lightly written on it. There was a towel in the carrier with her. I spoke w/him later & he said they found no microchip or other i.d., so I asked him to post info here in case anyone recognized a missing cat (though, we think she was probably abandoned).

It would help if there was a pic. Unfortunately at the AC&C she is more likely to be euthanized than adopted. If she catches the AC&C cold which they almost all do due to the unsanitary conditions there or appears scared, timid or aggressive - which is also common due to the stress of the environment - she will be pts.

Do you have a pic you can put up as I have heard of people dumping friendly strays and neighbors pets out of vengeance. I would check on tabby tracker for lost cats in your area and craigslist to see if anyone is possibly looking for this cat and you could yet save her life. Also dont presume it's a female b/c of the name on the carrier, it could be a diff cats name.

unfortunately, I don't think he took a photo of her. he told me before he left the shelter confirmed she was female, I did check tabby tracker, craigslist, home again & some other sites w/no matches, also didn't see any flyers posted in the area. thanks for your input though.
