Does anyone know which streets will be closed for the marathon on Sunday, and for how long? We have several visitors coming from different places and I'd like to advise them, driving-directions-wise.

      Thanks a lot.

there's total logjam for traffic on marathon day - it radiates out from the closures, and since the run crosses Flatbush at Fourth Ave....well, there's no moving until later in the afternoon . . .

Thank you. I actually arrived at that page this morning, but it didn't clear anything up for me; hence my plea to you all. It doesn't give specific street closures or times -- it just says expect delays on 4th Avenue till 1:00.

"Delays"? That's a joke. It'll be closed until 1PM at the earliest. I don't know the exact route, but whatever roads the runners use will be closed. I'm not sure how they deal with cross traffic, but I doubt there is much if any when the first runners come through.

I don't know what to say to that. The NYC Marathon is one of the biggest marathons in the country let alone the world. The streets that the runners run on have big clear blue lines painted on them. And they will be closed. If there is a cross-street near a marathon specific street, there is no way you will be able to cross by car in any way.

There's no way to be any clearer. The marathon is huge. The main routes shut off all traffic. And if you need to use cross-streets, there's virtually no way that will happen until the runners pass. And even then the route is basically open until the last runner passes. Literally.

There will be no crosing 4th Avenue, Lafayette Avenue starting at BAM all the way the up to the end of Bedsty. If your visitors are coming from Manhattan, for example, they should take the Battery Tunnel to Prospect Park Express way to Windsor Terrace. Try this site for more info:

I am obviously aware of this much. No need to be so snarky.
