The Brooklyn Bike Patrol is dedicated to making the women of Brooklyn feel safe as they travel from train stations to their homes in evening hours, 7 days a week. Just call us ahead of time before you board your train and one of our volunteers will be waiting to meet you and escort you home safely. We service 35 various train stops in Brooklyn, including Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Sunset Park, Kensington, Windsor Terrace, Clinton Hill, Carroll Gardens, Borough Park and Bedford-Stuyvesant. All of our volunteers have been background checked and their faces can be seen on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/BROOKLYNBIKEPATROL. You can also follow us on Twitter @BKBikePatrol.

Our hours of operation are: Sunday-Thursday 8pm - 12am Friday and Saturday 8pm-3am. If you need us outside of our normal hours, call us ahead of time and we will try to accommodate you. Call our number at 718-744-7592. Our service is totally free. Lets keep Brooklyn safe.

Thanks for all you do for the ladies of Brooklyn! Do you have any plans to expand to Bushwick perchance?

Thank you Vegantastic, Bushwick is the next part of Brooklyn that we want to service, we just want to get volunteers who live in that area. If you know anyone who would want to volunteer, tell them to call us at 718-744-7592. Thank you very much for the kinds words and lets keep Brooklyn safe.

Yes we do, we will meet women at bars, bus stops, restaurants, a friend's home, anywhere in the neighborhoods that we cover. Which are Sunset Park, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Bedstuy, Carroll Gardens, Kingsington, Windsor Terrance and Borough Park. Please feel free to call us at 718-744-7592 and see the faces of our volunteers on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/Brooklynbikepatrol.

Have you and your volunteers been documenting your work?

Can you state that "during the last six months, we have provided bike escorts to X number of people who felt uncomfortable walking home alone".

      ?

Documenting their work is a good idea but why are you thinking it would be useful?

We have close to 70 different women that have used our service since September 14th. Their phone numbers are saved in our database (which is my Android). This way, when they call again, we know who they are and which station they come out of. 90% of the women we walk home are repeat costumers. I also keep a book where we document time and pick up and station or wherever we pick up the person. And that's all. We don't write down their destination. If anyone has any questions please call me at 718-744-7592. The Brooklyn Bike Patrol all have been background checked. We have done everything to gain the trust of the communities that we service.

I think it is a great service. It has clear goals, and delivers what it promises.

As an inovative model, it increses safety for those who use it, yet steers clear of the pitfalls inherent in Neighborhood Patrols.
