      Hi All -

Looking for a little advice. I'm a neighbor to the new hair salon that is opening on 7th Ave and 9th St, the Mini Hair Village Spa. and they have a few electronic signs that they leave running pretty much 24 hours a day so far. I'm close enough that from our living room and office we're getting glares from the flashing lights on the signs bouncing off the walls at night, and it feels a bit much, even for what is one of the busier intersections in Park Slope. Does anyone know what the best way is to approach the business about getting these signs turned off (at least after 10pm at night), or changed. Recommend to go directly to the business? (though I don't think they're even open yet) or contact a community board? I've never had such an eyesore pop up so close to home, so am not sure what's the best approach to try to deal with it is. Thanks very much for any suggestions.

A 30.30 Rifle with hollowpoints is a good solution, or blackout curtains ... The CB process is painfully long ...
      Perhaps deBlasio's old office?

Go to the nyc buildings website, put in the address here.

Click on the link on the right and see if they have an illuminated sign permit.

      if they don't, call 311.

I would speak to the owner and ask them to either turn them off at closing or to put them on a timer so they go off by 10. You can even recommend they get the timer at Lowes down the block.

Good luck and hope it all works out

Hi, I'm a 9th Street resident and I have already complained to the community board. I have not heard back, but more calls to Community Board 6 can't hurt. This signage is totally inappropriate for Park Slope. I dont' like the neon in the window of the eyebrow place across the street, but at least they turn it off when they close at 8 pm.

I apologize for the lights, I will speak to the owner.
She's a wonderful and lovely woman. She's a diligent, ambitious and passionate person. Time to time she goes to missions to serve in other countries such as Panama and Mexico. She sent her son to Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico and other places in Latin America. I know this because I attend church with the owner.
