Last night, we took in an orange tabby cat who's been lingering on our doorstep for the last week. She's about 1.5 to 2 years old, I believe, with yellow eyes. A very practical demeanor - no clawing or racing about, just patrolling the house and grooming.

I believe she is an indoor cat and was never meant to be outside - she has been crying into our windows and doors, and she doesn't appear to be all that comfortable with the outdoors. If you know of anyone who's lost an orange tabby, please get in touch with me - it's clear that she was very loved.

Where did you find her? That way we can keep our eyes open for "lost orange cat" signs in the 'hood

My cat was a stray who correctly identified a kind-hearted person on the street, followed him home, and demanded to be taken in. I had neighbors who took in a cat that turned up in their backyard and cried at the windows until they took her in. Both cats were pregnant . . . .

As was the case when my wife found a sweet, loving cat, almost 2 years ago. Funny how these things happen, eh?
...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Animals are extremely perseptive. They know the people with kind hearts

You're not a "sucker". You're a nice, caring person as are all the rest on who help the animals in need

It will come back to you five fold in positive karma

I know what you mean Flex. My wife and I adopted two calicos, brother and sister, that were abandoned. They have essentially taken over the apt. We are their playthings. Every time we pass those kitten tables, we are so tempted to adopt more, but wish that we had larger space.

It kills my wife to leave. She has told me, that she will become a Bridgett Bardot when she gets older.

I found the owners - the Stop and Fifth Deli on 5th Avenue and 5th Street. Apparently the cat likes to roam the block, flirting with residents and getting fed up at the Park Slope Ale House on 6th Ave and 5th Street. It was great to get the cat back to its owners (the cat's name is Mish-Mish), and know that my kids can go visit anytime they want.

Yay! Mish-Mish is back where she belongs. Nice to know she's workin' it up and down the block. Maybe she can get me some mac-n-cheese from the Ale House on one of her next runs

I hate hearing that a cat is an outdoor cat. They live shorter lives, get into fights with ferals, get lost, get stolen, get run over, you know the drill.
      I believe in peace, bitch.

      Ditto.

Ljnd, it's great that you took this kitty in, though! I wonder whether it might be worth trying to at least persuade the store to get this cat a tag and collar, since she wanders around so much.

cute! in hebrew and arabic, mish-mish means apricot! sounds like a fitting name for a sweet, orange cat!

That makes total sense, as the guys who run the shop are Arabic. Awesome!
