Went to see Black Swan today at Pavillion. It was so nasty that I almost asked for my money back. Seats with no backs, seats with no...seats, seats with stains and random food particles and hairs. It seems like they have just stopped trying. See attached photos.

I'm wondering why it was only an 'almost.' I'd would have been out.

      Dayamn.

...not that there's anything wrong with that.

You can almost see the bed bugs on the fabric.

What a shame. When the Pavillion opened the Slope rejoiced! The Sanders Theater had been closed for near two decades by then. When the Pavillion first opened the cafe on the second floor had one of the best brunches to be had in the hood and the theater space was immaculately maintained.

    8. interesting. I just spent a week in Jackson Michigan. Michigan was the only state to lose population in the 2010 census and when I noticed that everything in Jackson seemed to be on its last legs, I thought perhaps it was a local phenomenon. The soap dispensers are empty, ditto the paper towel dispensers, and the blow dryers don't work in the public restrooms. Motel keys don't work, and everything thing in the motel room was going down and already gone.
I thought my comparison my n'hood in Brooklyn was a gem. Guess I was wrong. Especially given the debacle on snow removal.

I guess with a name like Capt. Planet you have no choice but to go global.

The Pavillion Movie Theater would be my choice for a bellwether of the empire.

    11. Of course, it is water under the bridge, but I still miss the theater on Flatbush...American Apparel now. Story goes...the gym wanted to install a swimming pool and was shot down by the MTA. Seems the pool would be over the subway.

      Who owns the Pavillion?

Now that the 69 bus is cancelled on weekends and doesn't pass on weekdays and...its last run on 7th Ave is 9PM. It is easier to go the Manhattan...when I do, almost never, go to the movies. So sad to see these pics.

If I don't quite understand you...well, that's all right...if you don't want to understand me...it really doesn't matter.... If we all try to understand each other, well now, just think of what might happen!

I went to see "Burlesque" there a few weeks ago (go ahead! laugh! it was fun, alright?!) Anyway, I too was in theater 5 and I concur -- it is disgusting. And the ambiance was enhanced by the fact that the only other patron, besides the 3 friends I went with, was a (likely) homeless guy who enjoyed the movie a *little* too much, if ya know what I mean. Thanks for the memories, Pavillion!

The worst part is that that is what is was like when it opened. I went the first week and the seats were clearly used. They also had that nice cafe on the second floor that lasted about a month.

All of there marketing said they were gonna be the "Angelica of Brooklyn" Not so much.

We haven't gone there since reading the "bedbug" threads posted on more than one neighborhood blog. Very inconvienent since we live so close and have a child but not worth it. Especially since no response from Pavilion to the community or any neighborhood blogs I read.
My husband and child would always go together to the 3D movies when I was working, as a special treat. When I said no more Pavilion until I hear otherwise, my child says well mom I might as well tell you now that me and daddy saw very big mice (?rats I'm sure) when we sit in the front row together. So I'm pretty sure we are totally done for now.

I have to believe that the Pavillion is in violation of a bunch of city codes -- it really is gross. All I have to say is, if you must see a movie there, do not get there early. You do not want to see what the theaters look like in light!

I never understood these Pavilion posts bc the theaters seemed quite nice whenever we went. Then I discovered that there is one or maybe two theaters there that are really and truly disgusting. Like, I was afraid to sit down. I could totally believe that bedbugs were present. Or, at a minimum, avian flu. Or Ebola. So nasty.

I wonder why some of the theaters at the Pavilion are in relatively decent shape while others are so horrible.

Yikes! Which theaters are good and which are bad? I've been there a few times (but not since the bedbugs), and the theater I've been is has always been tolerable.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Took daughter to Tangled Saturday. Two of the screen rooms have no heat! Tangled was one. We wore winter coats during. Sign offered money back within twenty minutes of show starting if it was too uncomfortable. Owner(s) should be ashamed of themselves. If they sell, tho, we might get another real estate office...Please sell to someone who will treat the space right, Owner(s).
