It looks like I'm finally going to be leaving my annoying job this Friday (long story--I gave notice weeks and weeks ago, but they keep trying to get me to stay). Anyway, I'm hoping to get people together and would be happy to see fellow DHers as well. Since I don't see anyone talking about Wednesday yet, how about Friday at Soda? Or are the regulars still on vacation...?

Dude, I'm totally down for this Friday. it's about time I start putting names to faces. I like Soda, but here's an alternative suggestion: don't know the name, but there is this neat bar on Van btw Pacific and Dean. It's on the Soda side. It's kinda neon-looking, but they've got a dj on weekends, cheap drinks, and rainbow crowd.

Indigo--we've been there several times for happy hours and other events. It is pretty cool. In this case, however, I would prefer to stick with Soda. Um, I've already told some of my friends (you know, the kind of friends that I didn't meet on this board!) that we should go to Soda because I'm planning to go pretty much straight after work to eat pierogies. Of course, if I go straight after work, I'll be all tuckered out by 9.
so y'all can head out to wherever after I go home.

I'm moving into my new place on Bergen Friday afternoon, and Wednesdays almost *never* work for me, so if I'm not too exhausted and haven't spent my entire paycheck on paying the movers I'll try to come have a beer with y'all.

I have at least one friend who wants to do it early, so I think I'll be there by 7. Maybe even 6:30. I had a great time! I mean, I was somehow a VIP at some random event and got lots of free drinks (yay) and I got to see 2 live crew and relive junior high! what more could I want?like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote -

It's going to be sick, I tell you. Sick. Out of control. The parents will have a baby-and-beer-balancing contest. There will be toddlers running everywhere, knocking down resentful hipsters and (bonus points!) Marge from the midwest. Childless DHers will have to borrow a baby from the neighbors. Can't- her (soon-to-be former) co-workers scheduled the shindig someplace close to the office in MH... but that doesn't mean that we have to nix the double shots! ...not that there's anything wrong with that. -

Well, Unterberg and I went, and Emily, Mr. DailyHeights himself & family, Mr. Medusa (sadly, Medusa had left by the time we got there), Stacey, and Alafairnadia were all there while we were around. We had a couple of beers and headed off to Burrito Bar for some dinner, so I don't know who might have shown up afterwards. Sorry I didn't stick around long enough to meet everyone who came later, but I had been dealing with moving all day and I was HONGRY. Sadly, I didn't have the presence of mind to take any pics. Not related so much to happy hour, but I also stopped by and met SJE at her shop today, and I discovered that two old friends I didn't even know lived in these parts live right at the end of my block, so I'm already feeling a *much* better community vibe here than in my old 'hood! -
horray! friday was SO fun! though the extreme-late-night DH crew didn't roll in til 11-midnightish. twas awesome to meet apollonia and unterberg! and see everyone else, including the non-nabe dwellers, who had to go home to places like CT!like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote
