Anybody else been hearing a dog bark constantly starting at 11:30 pm? Seems like it's been going on for the past 3-4 nights and sounds like it's coming from Butler (btwn. Sterling and Plaza east).

is the dog outside overnight?! If it is outside ovenight, the ASPCA should know about it. If its owner lets it out back to do its business, then it barks until it is let back in ...it is just annoying. For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Definitely sounds like the dog is left outside for hours (can't verify since i can never see the dog). Was thinking the same thing that this is extremely cruel on the owners part if this is in fact the case.

way too cold for a dog to be out overnight..... 311 takes noise complaints for dogs, but more serious issue is cold. 311 will connect you to ASPCA who can tell owner dog should not be left out overnight ...even if it is a well insulated furry beast with a dog house, it must be let inside. For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Which side of Butler is this, the Vanderbilt side, or the St. John's side? I'm on the Vanderbilt side of this block. When the windows are open I sometimes hear a big dog bark at night, but I must admit that I haven't heard the dog you're writing about at all. I wonder if it's the same dog and I'm just tuning it out. -
I have also heard this poor dog bark for hours late at night. I can't believe so one would leave there dog out in this cold. In the summer this dog also is let out at 5am and barks for hours. Nothing like respecting your neighbors.

He is in the building mid Plaza between Butler and Vanderbilt. A mixed Akita... they run in the back courtyard where kids used to play. Beautiful dogs but very lonely. I think the super's kids own them. Not treated very well.

Oh, yeah, now that you describe the dog, I have seen it, and its size corresponds to the type of barking I hear. I always assumed that it was a guard dog. I also wonder if it's the same dog that someone was yelling at over the summer. I would always notice the guy shouting way more than I noticed the dog. -
There are a coupla of them. Various mixed Akitas... usually a puppy or two and then the adult dogs. They poop all over the courtyard... At least we do not hear the basketballs bouncing from the kids playing anymore.

If the dogs are barking for that length of time something is wrong. I would call the ASPCA to report it and let them check out whether the dogs' shelters are adequate for this cold weather.

If we are speaking about the same dogs they are ok. They live in the basement apartment and bark by an open window. When I see them outside they look like they are in great health. Just really annoying!

Don't know if this was a coincidence or not, but I noticed an ASPCA car outside that building this morning. Officer was chatting with a guy who had a big dog.
