Someone managed to change the sign indicating the upcoming street closures on the corner of St. Marks and Flatbush to read FUCK RATNER instead. Both NY1 and News12 are there. Bravo!

Ha! Any pics? Since I don't think NY1 or News12 will post the real thing un-blurred -
I found someone posted it on Flickr (I don't know whose, but thank you!) http://www.flickr.com/photos/duelin_markers/4457308968/ MOD NOTE: et voila...

That truly is awesome.

wow. did they truly learn nothing from the "Zombies Ahead" prank months back? Lock the stupid door to those signs. No hacking needed. Just open the door and type in what to say lol

Thank god for low standards of city workers, allowing passersby to type in their own personal message on a safety sign is..priceless .At 7wins 63 losses the Nets should go somewhere alright to a girls league

In which case the name Brooklynettes would actually be apropos. Also, I concur with that traffic sign. -

************************************************************************************************** they would probably be 4 and 67 there. -
The suckitude of the Nets is completely irrelevant in the discussion. NBA fortunes can change dramatically with one or two free agent signings or trades (e.g., when the Nets got Jason Kidd and went from perennial doormat to two consecutive NBA Finals). There are plenty of reasons to protest the development, but the idea that the Nets will continue to stink when they move to Brooklyn is not one of them.

So all politics aside, who stoked to have a pro sports team in Brooklyn for the first time in over 50 years?

We're better than that. Getting all excited about getting a sports franchise is something for shitty towns that don't have anything else going for them. -
Sweet Hack! Props!

Again, regardless of the arena issue, isn't it possible that in this huge city with an incredibly diverse population (and an even more diverse range of interests) that there might be people who have some interest in a local sports franchise? It seems fairly snobby to take the "tut, I live in Brooklyn and am above that" attitude when the borough has a colossal bball history and such a huge pool of people who would likely become rabid fans once the political fervor dies down. It's not that I think Brooklyn needs a team for identity -- it's that I like basketball and would like to have a local team to root for. -
the basketball team will be somewhat novel, but I don't understand the fascination. As I keep pointing out, the arena (like all arenas) is going to keep itself filled with what ever will book it... gospel revivials wrestling circuses disney on ice trade shows annoying motiviational speakers with bleached teeth Hanna Montana concerts etc One night: Thousands 12 year old girls leaving a boy band concert next night: men leaving a sports venueFor better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

just the ladies... and when I was 12 years old, my father took me to a circus, the greatest show on earth. there were clowns and elephants and dancing bears. and a beautiful lady in pink tights flew high above our heads. and so I sat there watching the marvelous spectacle. I had the feeling that something was missing. i don't know what, but when it was over, i said to myself, "is that all there is to a circus? now everybody...destination: roam

Maybe the person that used to change the lettering at the old Pavilion / AmericanApparell can use this street sign to continue his/her sign bombing.

a more charitable sentiment appears in today's NYT:
