I have lived in PH for 10 years & have long been frustrated by the pharmacy options. Among other things, they never seem to have enough of my very common meds. I went back to King's on Flatbush but they repeatedly tell me my meds are ready & they aren't. Recently I came in with my kids & waited & waited & then were told customers can't use the bathroom. I am thinking of trying Rite Aid or DR on Flatbush. Any experience? Others? TIA

Duane Reade on Flatbush is okay. The lines for picking up prescriptions get very long in the late afternoon early evening so I would suggest that after you order a prescription that you pick it up in the morning when they first open. Target at Atlantic terminal is the most reliable and friendliest pharmacy that I have found in the area.

Sorry to say that I've had the same experience at Kinds. Their drug inventory must be pretty small, because they were always out of what I needed. Then they would (without my permission) substitute a different variety of the same medication. I didn't like that they were making decisions for me about that. In the year that I had my prescription there, I believe that they filled it incorrectly three times. Not a good track record, and I went back to Duane Reade. I'm not a huge fan of DR, but at least I got the prescription I was supposed to get. Also, that blond woman who is there all the time can be pretty loud. Is she an owner or a manager? I've heard her be rude to the staff and to customers. -
i had a terrible time with kings when trying to get something tricky filled (no one but the big neergaard can get it, but the lecture i got at kings for asking -- with scrip in hand, mind you -- still pisses me off), but when my insurance-mandated mail order pharmacy screwed up my delivery of a fertility-related drug that i needed THAT DAY, kings was great, with only and hour's notice before closing time. i was very surprised, but i guess they have a fertility specialty. i've had really obnoxious experiences with the flatbush DR pharmacy and would personally avoid it. i would also avoid target pharmacies anywhere, because they allow pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions on "moral" grounds, which is some bullshit. we live east of you and are mostly happy with thriftway on classon, except i wish they were open more hours. anyone know if the one on washington is good? the guy at ludwigs on washington seems very nice, too.Bumping ancient threads with bot-like bullshit

We've always used Prospect Gardens on Union & 7th Ave, not PH but close enough if you are near Grand Army. Kind of quirky place but, other than them occasionally not having enough of an obscure medicine on hand to fill an entire RX once or twice, we've never had a problem in 15 years.

I always had the idea that Kings didn't like filling my 'script for birth control, but instead of rejecting it outright (is there a law against this in NYS?) they just screwed it up enough so that any thinking person would go elsewhere. I also didn't trust them after those experiences. If they didn't like birth control, maybe they weren't storing the drugs properly, KWIM? Your opposite experience with a prescription for a fertility drug reinforces my opinion (no slight on you intended--I'm happy that you were able to get what you needed.) I have a DR in my office building. I'm not a fan of DR either, but it's hard to beat the location. -
could be an attitude thing, but it's also that they bill themselves (to docs) as a fertility specialty pharmacy -- they're on the info sheet you get handed at clinics, and they're the only ones in BK -- and what i needed was very common in that milieu. BCP are often used in fertility settings as well (to shrink cysts, etc.), so i'm surprised that was a problem. it's not as much of an opposed issue as it looks from our perspective. the lecture i got was not for a lady-part-type drug, btw.Bumping ancient threads with bot-like bullshit

Crest Pharmacy on Flatbush at Dean comes correct.

if you're closer to the CH side of the world, thiftway on washington / sterling isn't half bad. they've always been reliable for me, anyway.you're welcome to stay, but even your company must compliment the feng-shui.

I've always used the evil Target pharmacy. The lines sometimes get long, but ohterwise the staff is pleasant and efficient. I can't stand the DR on Flatbush. Terrible service and surly, incompetent staff.

I do mine through mail-order. I know places like Walgreens does mail-order, but I get mine through my insurance. I couldn't find a convenient place in the area.

I've never had trouble with any of the Neergaard locations. And it isn't PH, but Noor Pharmacy next to the NSA supermarket on Bedford and Clarkson has been good to me (next day filling of uncommon stuff) and is open fairly early and late. http://www.yelp.com/biz/noor-pharmacy-inc-brooklyn Oh, and I hate chain store pharmacies, even if they're omnipresent

I've had perfect service at DR on Flatbush. Have used them 4 times in the past 2 years including once this week.

I've found the DR on flatbush to be a little hit/miss depending on who's there.I've used sarcasm before. It makes me feel really smart.

I'm speaking up for Kings, because I would really hate to see another local business go under.....God knows how long the Park Heights Stationers place will be vacant, and while I do frequent DR for hair products etc., I am no fan of the idea of big chain stores dominating our neighborhood. I've been a customer of theirs - primarily for RXs, but from time to time to pick up other off-the-shelf things - for over 20 years. I have had a couple of bad experiences in that time, like being told that it would take 1/2 an hour and at the end of time being told that they were out of stock on my medication (and kinda yelled at them when I have), but on the whole it's been fine, and I am always happy to see a smiling face, and be recognized as a regular customer by their longer-time staffers, when I go to drop off and/or pick up. Now, if it's something I need that day, I ask when I drop off the prescription if they have it in stock....... Overall I think they try hard, and generally get it right. And that it's important to patronize long-time local businesses.Proud to be a naturalized citizen of the greatest city on earth.

Good Prospect, I totally agree with you! That's why I was so disappointed that my prescription experience was so bad. I can't bring any more prescriptions to Kings. I'm not going to patronize a local business just because it is local. I usually find a locally owned business to be nicer in some way (be it atmosphere, service, or product selection.) My decision to shop there usually has nothing to do with price (and, indeed, I will pay a premium for those things I listed.) I think Kings could really carve out a niche for itself if it went the apothecary route, something like a Zitomers. I think that would be great! -
Gotta say that I'm taking my business from Thriftway to Neergaard. Been using Thriftway, and they have lost presecriptions many times. The last presecription I got filled there didn't fit in the bottle. The top was just resting on the top of the bottle because there were too many pills. They deliver, which is why I use them in the first place - it's very convenient. But the open bottle was the last straw.

neergaard is great. if i lived closer, i would use them for everything.Bumping ancient threads with bot-like bullshit

I'd go back to Crest @ Flatbush & Dean more often if it weren't a bit out of my way. Ludwig's @ Washington & Stirling also seems ok.The world will little note nor long remember what we say here. -- Abraham Lincoln
