I don’t take issue with people being justifiably upset about the timing and volume of the sound systems, or with anything the OP said. I was responding to certain others on this thread and in similar threads about noise in the neighborhood. Just because the partyers may be loud and inconsiderate doesn’t make them uneducated, unemployed, low-income, or gang affiliated. And those are not the same thing as rude or low-class.
Being the original poster here, I am going to agree and reinforce again the idea that it is the act, not the people, that people we/I object to.
1) Note that the party at hand was at 495 St. John's Place, next to FDNY Engine 280/Ladder 132. I heard the DJ warn several times that cars were blocking the driveway, I assume, of the firehouse. If you're in the neighborhood and have a problem with 495 St. John's Place again, communicate to the precinct that partiers may be blocking the driveway of an active firehouse.
2) If you speak up early enough and in great enough numbers during the party to 311 and directly to the precinct, maybe it will work. Also, I'll be at the next precinct community council meeting, Monday July 11 at 7:30, 127 Utica Avenue.
77th Precinct: (718) 735-0611
Precinct Community Affairs: (718) 735-0634
3) It is unfair to assume that the people at the party that I originally complained of (or at parties like them) are either lazy or uneducated. The issue is that the parties are loud, in the wrong place and at the wrong time. Let's keep it at that and be on top of calling 311, calling our precincts and being involved in community meetings.
