Mt. Prospect Park - is there a neighborhood "friends of" group?

      Was up at the park this morning, and the trash, dirty diapers on the benches, 10 inch high grass and general sad state of the park's upkeep (and playground) got me thinking - is there a group of neighbors dedicated to park TLC? I assume parks budgets are dismal, but if anyone has any scoop (or if not, any interest in starting something) then please let me know. I guess I should probably call Tish, too?

      Just seems worse, somehow, than in years past.

      Meanwhile, I put in a 311 request for the grass. Not sure that helps, but can't hurt.

      Three factors:

      1. They have been able to do less maintenance (trash removal, grass mowing) as a result of the construction on Eastern Parkway.

      2. Lots of rain has caused the grass to grow quickly.

      3. Heavy use over Memorial weekend.

      For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

      I believe they mowed the grass earlier today.
