Has anyone seen the hoarder car always parked in prospect heights? I see it all the time on St Marks and Prospect between Washington and Vanderbilt. It is so filled with crap I don't know how the owner can even drive it. I have tried walking my dog past it on street sweeping days in the hopes of spotting the owner moving it. No luck. I need to see the owner of this car. I have decided it has to be a man and I can only assume he has 17 cats.

I'm reading a book on hoarding right now, and it's a pretty tragic illness/condition to suffer from. I can only imagine that somewhere around there is a house or apartment just as full as the car.

I've seen that car, and wondered if the person is actually living out of the car.

Years ago I knew a gal who had so much crap in her car she got a ticket for obstructing her vision but her house wasn't that bad. I know many people who use their vehicles as an extra closet. And I knew a woman who was a terrible hoarder. She had a friend start cleaning her house and even after two dumpsters full of stuff they hadn't even made a dent. But her car was fine. Some people just don't know where to put things or how to let go.

I don't think the car ribbons discusses leaves the block.

If I'm thinking of the right car, doesn't it belong to the guys who tinker with cars on St. Marks (bet. Washington and Underhill) right next to the parking lot? It used to always be parked right in front of there.

I had wondered about this car myself. I did finally see the person who owns the car and I don't know how she gets in to the car to move it, but she does. Middle aged woman with red hair, often toting multiple big bags, wearing a wide brimmed hat...

Doh, I just assumed it had to be a guy due to the items visible through the windows. If anyone feels the need to see this car it has been parked on Prospect between Underhill and Washington the past few days.

If you believe she is so impaired that she is unable to care for herself, there are services which try to help....

that's a nice thought, whynot, but i know who this person is. she's a very nice person. she lives with her family in a nice apartment in the neighborhood. they are quite aware of her situation. i don't know the details of what help she may be getting but i know she is cared for.

      I'm glad to hear it.

....Families usually provide far better care that the city is capable of.

Apparently much of the stuff in there isn't worth anything. Otherwise someone would have broken in to steal it.

Hoarders rarely have stuff that's valuable to others, but its priceless to them. Haven't you ever watched the show? There are people that hoard their own poo...

My girlfriend and I saw her driving it down Park Place once. As we both gazed at it in astonishment, a passerby gestured to the it and said straight to us, "Trash car."

So we've been calling it that since.

Hoarder truck spotted today in Bed Stuy! This one looks a little unsafe to drive due to all the crazy items on top of the truck that could fly off.
