does anyone know what this is? it seems to be coming from close to washington, between park and sterling, at least it certainly carries through the back yards in this area. it seems to start around 9 or 10 each night and go for a while, an hour or 2? i'm not close enough to hear in detail so can't be sure what it is but it's a low, droning mixed with occasional wailing -- like it could be religious chanting or someone practicing a part in a tribal musical. as noises around here go, it's not the worst, although i am tiring of it. did i mention it was loud?

For what it's worth, my bedroom windows open onto the backyards of the block made by Washington, Sterling, Underhill and Park place - and I haven't heard a thing.

wow. really? he's singing (or whatever) again tonight. seems to go from about 9 or 10 until 12 or 1. i'm pretty close to the middle of the block, and from where i am, it's coming from the direction of washington. it's not terrible or anything, just kind of tired of it, and wonder wtf.
the good thing is after he stops, the night gets cooler and the a/c compressors shut off, you just hear the mockingbirds, which have been a real treat this year.

I've heard it a few times in the past myself. It happens late at night and only goes on for a few minutes.
I always thought it was a musician or someone praying.
mockingbirds birds rule.
Why attack God? He may be as miserable as we are.

I have heard this before. I believe sometimes around 5 or 6 AM in addition to the times that you said. My window faces Bergen between Classon and Franklin, so it is quiet but audible.

Hi there--I know for sure there's a Muslim mosque near those streets and they usually have loud speakers blaring with a male singing prayers daily from 5am-6pm and sometimes in the early evening. I'm betting it's that...def kind of annoying.

i've heard the mosque occasionally but it's not that close to me, doesn't go on this long and doesn't bother me. since no one else is describing what i've heard, i'm guessing it's quite close to me, and probably practicing singing of some sort.
