Hello I am seeking advice from anyone out there, since I have not been in Prospect Heights very long....I live over by the methadone clinic on Classon Ave. near Pacific...this is a strange mixture of addicts, halal live poultry warehouses, car salvage and repair lots, and the beautiful new high rise lofts on Dean St....From early morning (around 7am) until early evening most of the folks from the clinic are milling about the neighborhood, most of them are very friendly and basically harmless, I have pets, and they love to stop and chat about them...I am often concerned about the more meanacing looking thug types, who do not appear to be users, but crack dealers.....there is a bodega and barber shop on the corner of Classon and Dean that has constant shady types and I have seen the police there on several occasions. during the heat wave things were unbearable, and culminated in a dog being killed by one with their motorcycle on the sidewalk in front of the babershop.....does anyone know the history of this area and can give me insight as to how dangerous or concerned I should be? I really like my apartment and do not want to move, but I sometimes feel like I am putting myself in a dangerous situation...

Sounds like it's to get out of dodge before you end up with a toe tag.

classon between bergen and dean, i believe. walked by the other day, and it looked like they also sell eggs. did not investigate further, as i was on a mission to be scolded at the post office.

oh, and if you do walk down there, don't miss peering in at the steel pan yard just up the hill on the other side of the street! sometimes someone is even playing.

Methadone clinics are great. I love watching the amazing talents of the meth users after they get their daily dose. They have an amazing sense of balance as a side effect of the methadone. It's like those toys we had as kids...The weeble, they wobble but they don't fall down.
And that's the way it is.
