This very friendly female cat, older (around 7/8 yrs at a cursory exam) and missing a front tooth, has been hanging around our stoop on Prospect between Grand & Classon, for a few days now. She's way too used to people and sweet to be a pure street cat, so we think she may be lost (or may have been abandoned, in which case I wish hellfire on those who did it). Anyway, know anything about her? Thanks!

You'd be surprised how many heartless people just abandon a pets.

Getting the word out via flyiers (at all subway stops/markets/pet stores/community spots/centers) and posting on Craigslist is a good start. Good luck finding her owners or a new home.

      Update!

This morning we took her to the vet and she's not older at all... she's maybe 2 years old, tops. So much for our feline age recognition skills. Anyway she's healthy, no feline leukemia, most likely not pregnant, and possibly even spayed (we'll know this for sure later today). So, most likely a runaway, or abandoned.

If no one claims her, we're taking her home with us this afternoon.

You are so caring to take such good care of that gorgeous kitty-cat. Thank you from your pet-loving neighbor(s). Good karma coming your way, for certain.

So glad this story has a happy ending. I ran into this calico lady on the Friday before the snow storm. I couldn't take her in, but did treat her to a Friskies dinner from the bodega. I was worried for her given the weather. Very happy things worked out. (I'm on Prospect too- she tried to run into my building.)
