1. We shall see. ...I hope we get more wind than rain.
2. Nope, never seen one of those. Looks cool.
I'm not trusting any of these sidewalk sheds to withstand high winds. Just another reason to get all your errands and prep done like, now, and stay inside tomorrow.
Despite very gusty winds, the scaffolding appears to be holding.
I've been told the severe wind and rain is supposed to arrive around 3 PM today, unless it gets stuck in traffic on the NJ turnpike.
crane just collapsed in NYC. Talk of scaffolding next.

The chalk board from the Washington Rocks festival this summer got blown down and is on the sidewalk.
Apparently the blue wood barriers around the abandoned construction site on the corner of Underhill and St. Johns (old laundromat for those who have been here that long) are down. Seems pretty dangerous because someone has been storing all sorts of trash and detritus in there. Sheets of glass, computer monitors, etc... that site is the WORST.
A few homeless guys live in the upstairs. They are smart enough to have replaced the lock with one of their own, and they simply re-lock the chain once they are inside.
Yea, at one point I saw a couple young dudes meet up on the corner, introduce themselves to each other, and head in there.. thought maybe it was a grindr hotspot or something. Should get my mind out of the gutter I guess. Makes sense that folks would be using it since the developers have not done *anything* in years.
Even when it was an abandoned laundrymat, it was known as a place that the homeless could seek refuge.

I was on a first name basis with Skibo before he disappeared.

Wow - for some reason had never seen that thread. I remember before they gutted it it was being used as a makeshift chabad house for a minute. Just thinking about that site makes me crazy! It's such a bummer. Would have been the sweetest diner with all those windows. Le sigh.
Someday, the investors will conclude it is in their best interest to do something with the site..... But it may be long after we move from the neighborhood.
