I just want to give a shout out to Danae Oratowski and Ellen Fishman for organizing the WONDERFUL Summer Streets on Vanderbilt Avenue. Hot and humid though it was, I thought today was great, a lovely opportunity to say hi to neighbors old and new, for the kids to play in the middle of the street, and the music rocked. Thanks Danae and Ellen!Proud to be a naturalized citizen of the greatest city on earth.

Does anyone know if "Summer Streets" will be happening again this summer? I hope so!

There is nothing on the Vanderbilt Merchants site about it happening in 2011.
Yet?

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor. -
It was great to learn that people were interested in seeing another Summer Streets this spring.
The Vanderbilt Merchants District and its co-sponsor Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council have decided to take some time off from the event and regroup for two reasons. First, a number of the principal organizers have left Vanderbilt Avenue and, second, there are many new businesses on the avenue that we need to work with to develop programming that works for everyone.
Even without Summer Streets, there are tables and benches out on the side walks, lots of great food to eat and places to get a cold drink on a hot summer day - so come out this summer and show your support for local businesses.
Thanks!
