      Hi!
I went by St. John's place this weekend and saw some buildings. I couldn't get much information from the supers, but was told a RE firm handled the building. Shockingly, this agent hung up on me. I still would like info on any of these buildings. Does anyone have an "in"?
      Thanks for any help.

Addresses would be a nice start. Which buildings?

Why attack God? He may be as miserable as we are.

St Johns Place is really sketchy in my view. Sterling Place and Lincoln Place seem much better to me. Whenever something weird, crazy or violent happens around the nabe, it seems to be on St Johns Pl.

It is a densely populated block, full of tenement buildings.

Despite this, it has become much quieter over the passed few years.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Look up the addresses under the HPD and Dept of Buildings pages at nyc.gov

It's so hard to be a saint in the city.

Galster Management runs a number of the buildings on that block. They are pretty horrendous to deal with.. just Google them for more info. Washington Realty reps a lot of their units.

Things still pop off on that block from time to time, but not really more than on Lincoln these days.

Ever since the block party incident that left two people dead. And i guess since this years homicide happened out on Washington it doesn't count against the blocks reputation.

Stay away from the last few buildings on the southside near Underhill that have entrances onto Lincoln Plc...No bueno.

If you find a place please lock your windows.

And that's the way it is.

My critique is limited to "quiet".

As in, when I walk by with dog, I hear people yelling at each other, and speakers pointed out the windows less often each year since -say- 2007.

I wonder what DJ Shotta Kidd is up to these days.....He was featured at the huge, out of control block party paraderest mentions:

And then, a few months ago, we had the murder on Washington and gave the nearby conditions some virtual ink: http://brooklynian.com/forum/crown-heights-and-prospect-lefferts-gardens/shooting-on-washington-ave

We lived in the builiding on the corner of Underhill and St. Johns for 4 years. We moved out last week and aren't looking back. Our building was managed by Galster, and saying that they were unattentive would be generous. The building roof was leaking, crumbling, and in generally falling in. There is a "Building Inspection" record hanging in the lobby, that gets signed off on every month, but it too was probably far from legit.

When moving out the super said they weren't going to renovate, and this apartment has not been renovated since the 80s. The shower wall was falling in, we fixed it 3 times. The toilet, sinks, etc. all leaked. People were having parties on the roof, people were smoking in the lobby, loitering out front, etc. No one cared.

Stay far away from Galster, which is now / also SMRC326.

Since nobody has yet this round, I'll mention the This American Life episode (better: horror show) about life with bedbugs at 349 St Johns. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/361/fear-of-sleep Enjoy!
