Are they another victim of raising rents?

On the contrary... they are closed temporarily for renovations and then reopening with a liquor license:

Velvet Peach Cafe, on Flatbush Avenue near Seventh, is going through its second metamorphosis in as many years ...
a new strategy (is) in the works that "will feature a diverse variety of American beers, wines and spirits alongside an American fare menu with a Southern influence."

      Brooklynian-

Could I infer that sometimes businesses can pursue diferent strategies to adapt to changing market conditions?

Regardless, I hope it works out for them.

I'm sure that those benches will find a lovely, sturdy home. ....just not at the Peach Cafe.
