Did anyone see this guy? I was there around 930am but I think he had been playing for awhile. He was incredible.

Hey- Do you remember that article from a year or two ago about the famous violinist who played in the subway and almost nobody noticed? Maybe he's back and he brought that maple syrup smell with him.

Yeah, that was Joshua Bell. But that was in Washington, not here (I like to think that New Yorkers would have been better on the reactions than the bureaucrats down there).

I've heard a very fine violist (not violinist) playing at the 7th Ave. F stop. He is a very high quality player. Lots of average violists play out of tune. He doesn't.

I genuinely think that New Yorkers would be more discerning than Washingtonians in this situation. I went to college in D.C., and the city is not the cultural haven that article pretends it is. Performing arts-wise, it's got the Kennedy Center and...the Kennedy Center. New York is a whole different animal--and subway/street performing is much more part of the city's fabric up here than it is down there.
