you should call them to see what the schedule is for your building.

they are slowly coming into the hood. it can take a while for them to install, they've been working on my building for over a month. but i've experienced it at my relative's house and it is a million times better than TW and cablevision (i've had both and cablevision is the worst). i'm hoping to have fios in my building by the spring...

It's going to be at least another year, probably late 2010. They're doing the outlying Brooklyn neighborhoods where the lines will run above ground first. Park Slope and Prospect Heights are much tougher.

Fios is here in Sheepshead. I had a salesperson come in and sell me the triple package. he was going from door to door. We set a date and I took off work.

No one showed up. I kept on calling to find out what happened and no one knew what was going on. At 5pm (they were suppose to be over at 11am) i got a call saying that there were no techs available that day (they all called out sick on that day) and if i would like to reschedual. I told them that I had to take a day off work and if this kind of service is any indication, I would stay with the cable service.

Fios has arrived at Eastern Parkway between Underhill and Washington.

...they buried the cable last month, and service is now available.

      Seriously?!

My source was a good one, so I'm really surprised, but that is awesome news! As soon as Fios is available, I'm dropping Cablevision so fast it'll be quicker than a cabbie hits his horn after the light turns green.

What part of PH? I've seen a lot of Verizon trucks around Butler/Sterling lately, but I try not to get my hopes up.

Seriously. Brochures in lobby. Neighbors have it already. If I wasn't so cheap, I'd stop freeloading off the museum's wifi.

around Grand Army. dunno what those trucks are for, but it's definitely coming to the hood. you can always call them up and ask whether your building is on their schedule.

I just checked their website. You can put in your address and it'll tell you whether or not its available. It's not where I am (two measly blocks from Why_not, no less), but they also give you the option of being contacted when it is in your area...fyi.

Ugh.. I'm out of their service area too. Bummer. Cablevision is on some primative s**t with their sub-par download speeds and unbearable remote-TV menu delays. Awful awful service.

Cablevision's television service is from the dark ages but their internet service is pretty incredible if the line is working properly. I used to have comcast where I lived in MA and they limit and shape your downloads like you wouldn't believe.

You have all heard my bitch-fest about cablevision and SUB-optimum online, so I won't start that again, but I do wish FIOS was an option for me. I've signed up to be contacted when its available and am getting 6 MBPS dedicated DSL installed in the meantime.

Do they say you can get Fios TV too? I checked your address (or at least what I think your address is) on Verizon's site, and they only seem to show Fios internet availability.

I think they are offering TV as well as internet. I'll pick up the brochure today. (I have direct TV, and free -but slow- internet from the Museum, so I haven't pursued it.)

I hate (along with everyone else) hate cablevision....

Subject: No Fios where I am

Truthfully though I like Cablevision. I've had Time Warner. Ugh! I use Comcast down at my friend's house. My son has some other service and that's even worse than TW or Comcast.

Optimum Online in the five years I've been using has been head and shoulders above the others. Never a problem. I/O TV might be a little pricier but I have no complaints. I don't have HD. So. . . .

Why does everything (utility installations, delivery boundaries, you name it) that runs Eastern Parkway ALWAYS stop right at Washington? It's like there's a DMZ-NONE SHALL PASS gate on the corner.

      Grumble.

ok, as per the Verizon Fios people in lobby tonight (hint: building is between Washington and Underhill on Eastern Parkway)....

They are offering only internet and phone at this time.
