wow... why? curious to see how this turns out...
-
does this mean there are going to be cameras at all our favorite Brooklyn Spots?
-
I just threw up in my mouth a little. You realize this means that half of Staten Island is going to turn up around these parts every weekend trying to hookup with drunken housemates and land their 2 seconds of quasi-fame on the boob tube.Be the change you want to see in the... neighborhood.
-
actually the real question is what will become of the gutted/rehabbed brownstone they will inevitably take over after the season is over and the cameras leave? It all comes back to real estate.
-
It was as if a million hipsters cried out and were suddenly silenced.
-
This piece of s*** program has been on the air for 20 years? Wow, anything is possible.
-
Okay, I guess that my first question is: that show is still on?!? MTV is seriously milking it. This makes me very, very happy to be TV-free.

i certainly don't want them but its interesting to figure where they will be housed top 5 guesses #1 Williamsburg #2 Carroll Gardens #3 Park Slope #4 Red Hook (long shot) - and they will work at IKEA #5 Prospect Heights and where I think they really should be Bushwick
-
There's also a new show that's gonna be based in The Slope from the producers of Sex and the City...there was a thread the other day and maybe an article in the Daily News or Post..."The jawbone of an ass is just as dangerous a weapon today as in Sampson's time."

It's gotta be b'burg or greenspoint.

What? No Brooklyn Heights in the list? Ft. Green? Clinton Hill? Seriously, I don't think that the MTV producers are thinking about the Brooklyn that we find interesting, but rather the image of Brooklyn that will please the masses somewhere out there in Iowa. And I think that pleasing image will come from a place like BK Heights.

really? doubtful. they need a place these asshats can get fucked up and look retarded in. a friend and I speculated that they'd live above SEA in b'burg and work in that restaurant. that'd be funny. can you imagine them all f'd up on the tiki drinks from across the street, all trying to screw some asshat from staten island?like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote -
I would love to see them in Mill Basin, Manhattan Beach or Canarsie.
-
5 bucks says an episode consists of 2 cast members finally giving in to their urge to hook up with each other, right after returning from a 'hip, arty' date at Target First Saturdays at Brooklyn Museum. If the museum allows them one moment of air time, they're dead to me.
-
i would be highly surprised with BH not hip enough in my book for some reason i see them on 5th ave, bedford ave in bburg or smith street.. but who knows
-
ugh. I just posted this in the Lounge as didn't think it was PH-related. I seriously wish they'd put them in East New York or someplace similar. I have a feeling it will be in the Slope or Williamsburg. Fucking cameras everywhere

They should be in Crown Heights and work as dope dealers. THAT I would watch.

When TRW was in Boston several years ago the producers didn't pick a funky, edgy 'hood. They found a building in (of all places) Beacon Hill. I guess that's what made me think of BK heights. Actually, when it comes down to it, a building's ability to accommodate the filming equipment will probably be the deciding factor. So, maybe DUMBO? Or, how about Gowanus? They can all work at the Lowe's! All this speculation is more interesting than the program.

Good point - brownstones might be too narrow, and no PS/BH coops would let them in. DUMBO sounds like a good bet. Imagine it: 7 strangers, all sharing a huge open loft! No privacy whatsoever! Now that's television. What is essential is invisible to the eye. —Antoine de Saint Exupéry -

yay! first prediction correct. now. where will they work?!like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote -
Technically, that link says that Williamsburg is a guess, not a certainty.
Now, we’re not part of the exalted team that actually decides high-power things like “programming,” but we’d place a $200 million bet that, as massive as Brooklyn is, this show’s specifically hitting the hipster haven that is Williamsburg.

its gotta be either the burg or park slope...there's not that many other places with such a high concentration of bars within walking distance of one another.whoa hey whoa hey whoa

I vote Carnarsie. They could work at either FedEx or UPS.

LittleRedMenance, Seeing that you live in Crown Heights, why would make such a negative statement. Grant it, Crown Heights isn't Mayberry, but it isn't the New Jack City -- Nino Brown you just described it to be. At least, to me.

they could live at the mckibbin lofts and have bedbug wars. 7 ppl, 1 loft: hilarity ensues!

How about Bay ridge or Bensonhurst? The life that has borne me me through these years is still in my hands and in my eyes. Wether i have subdued it, i know not. But so long as it is there it will seek its own way out, heedless of the will that is within me. Erich Maria Remarque

Hey, I love CH! But there ARE dope dealers here and I'm just saying that the RW kids should work in that field. It'd be a hell of a lot more entertaining than the "jobs" they usually get.
I'm not sure that what I said eluded to a description of New Jack City, but whatever. Sorry I offended you. -

I agree and same goes for music venues burg really wins out there.. I really hope they stay away from the new venue Brooklyn Bowl.. and go more to MH o W.. then again I don't think Brooklyn Bowl will have as much Indie rock anyways really this is interesting though I wonder how many younger folks in the midwest think of Brooklyn as a whole as dangerous still compared to hip or cool

Can't help but find your comment kind of funny, since the "we" you are talking about here are mostly from places equivalent to Iowa, and the image that Iowa finds interesting is precisely Fort Greene, Park Slope, etc. I think the show is going to be a hit, and attract even more Iowans to Brooklyn (if that's possible). -

According to this article, looks like MTV is in negotiations with a landlord in Carroll Gardens: http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/31/21/31_21_gardens_man_claims_hell.htmlSentiment without action is the ruin of the soul.

On a side note, Borough crook, er, President Markowitz spoke briefly at the BC commencement exercises yesterday. He ranted about Brooklyn's cultural acheivements and opportunities (he didn't mention the Nets or AY) but the culmination of his spiel was something to the effect of "AND NOW BROOKLYN WILL BE PART OF THE REAL WORLD!! MTV IS COMING TO BROOKLYN!!" Nauseating.Smacks of affectation.
