In the Park Slope Reader, I saw an advertisement for a new spa called Wink Beauty Bar at 602 Vanderbilt Avenue (saint Marks and Prospect Place). It mentioned that it has all natural organic spa treatments. Went to their website which doesn't provide much info. Has this business opened yet?

Passed there yesterday, it seems they are not open yet. I have noticed some posters on the window. Indeed, it seems they will have organic & VEGAN (yay!) spa treatments, according to the posters anyway. Got a lil peep inside when one of the (what appears to be) construction guys opened the door. I saw green walls, a ladder and a ball(?) hanging from the ceiling.... He said they would be opening "soon."

not that it has much info (and maybe this is just the add from the park slope reader?), but found this: http://www.winkbeautybar.com/

Wow, I hadn't heard of this and am really interested. I'm allergic to the chemicals in nail polish and have had a devil of a time finding a place to get mine done. Hope it opens soon."Now if every newspaper editor had to deal with a reader like Emily, boy, would they think twice, or three times." --greg

Great news that this place is coming into the neighborhood... but Emily, if you need a non-chemical nail salon & spa before then, there's a good place in the East Village called Priti you should check out: http://www.pritiorganicspa.com/index.htm -
Thanks for the tip! Part of my problem, though, is that I'm working and going to school and commuting, and I only really have time to get my nails done if it's right "on the way." But I will keep that place in mind if I need my nails done for a special occasion, for sure."Now if every newspaper editor had to deal with a reader like Emily, boy, would they think twice, or three times." --greg

Daily Candy posted about this place today. Looks like it's opening in early April. http://www.dailycandy.com/new_york/article/42230/Wink+and+a+NodFollow me on Twitter: @grandarmymajor

i went here yesterday. they are in their "soft open" phase. i met the owner, and she couldn't have been nicer. obviously, they aren't really open yet, so they are still working out the kinks and getting everything up to full speed. regardless, i got a very nice mani/pedi that wasn't much (if any) more than i pay at the utilitarian-but-not-very-nice nail factory in manhattan near my work. the pedi did take a little longer than i'm used to, and there was no washing/soaking at the beginning - not sure if this is going to be different once they fully open. other than that, it was wonderful! one bonus is that it's totally absent of that strong chemical odor that most nail places have.

No wash or soak in the beginning???? Fuck that."...you can choose the rain....but I choose the sun..." - N. Costa

Really?!? That's half the reason for getting the mani/pedi. I thought that it was also a way for the mani/pedicurist to make sure that a customer's feet or hands were sanitary. -
i think it had to do with the soft open. she washed them, just not with a soak. they seem to be set up to - they have the big sinks (hammered copper, and lovely) and faucets at each of the chairs. i would just ask them about it after they open (next Wednesday).

I went there today, mostly by accident (I had scheduled an appointment at House of Hair on Washington, and for whatever reason when I arrived there, there wasn't anyone available to give me a pedi. So much for them). Wink is was very nice. I misunderstood the whole sink/soak. Your feet get a nice long soak in the copper tubs. I think that I like this setup better than the whirlpool tubs in the chairs--the absence of filters and tubes that can get dirty seems a lot more sanitary to me. I have nice pink toes, and an appointment for a facial next weekend.
