I always like to share that an alternative to the tags (they kept falling off of my dog's collar), you can get a collar with your number embroidered on it. Get a wide roll of tape &amp; put one sign up every 20 ft if there is something to tape it to. Start where the dog escaped &amp; move outward in circles.<br /> Ask the principal of the local grade schools of hand out the same post to the kids - they see lots of things we don't. Go directly to the principal, don't try to hand out the info yourself.<br /> Hand out the same posters at all vets &amp; pet food stores in walking distance.<br /> List the dog as lost with the Center for Animal Care &amp; Control &amp; check EVERY DAY with them. You might find a bait and tackle shop in Sheepshead bay, though I have not been down there in years, they may all be closed and turned into waterfront condos.</p> <p>You can order most any exotic pet food online. I found a lost dog this morning and once I finally caught it, it had tags with current phone numbers for the owner, which meant a quick reunion. If it hadn't had phone numbers on, it probably would have been at least several hours, maybe days before the dog and owner were reunited. </p>
