It costs $1 per climb - you can do as many or as few climbs as you want! Half of the proceeds go to Genesis and half go to the Brooklyn Boulders Foundation. If you know how to belay, there will be staff present for you to take the test to get belay certified, and there's also plenty of bouldering. The event is open to anyone - invite your friends! After the event, climbers over 21 get a happy hour special at Sheep Station - just say you are coming from Brooklyn Boulders! Please RSVP by emailing JKaminsk85@gmail.com with "Climb-a-thon" in the subject, or on Facebook.
ABOUT GENESIS:
Genesis is a comedy that re-imagines the Biblical creation story and incorporates aerial arts into the plot. It will be debuted at Circus Warehouse on March 22 and March 23. The play has raised $11,600 so far, but still has more to go to afford costumes, props, a set, and to pay the 16 performers in the cast. Participation in the climb-a-thon helps support emerging artists and makes it possible to bring this production to life! For more information about the project, or to make a tax deductible donation, visit:

The Founder’s Ball is an engaging event that has the potential to raise tens of thousands of dollars to get the Pride Center off the ground, into its own space and delivering much needed programming and services to our community. There will be a silent auction, performances, an open bar and opportunities to meet and interact with a variety of interesting people who share your commitment to LGBT issues and the Pride Center.

All of us are familiar with Manhattan’s LGBT Center. We are trying to replicate that model right here in Brooklyn – to tackle the unique needs of Brooklyn's LGBT community.

The Pride Center will be a place for all of us, but it will be an especially vital resource to those in our community most in need of assistance and support, including LGBT people who are navigating the bureaucratic hurdles to adoption and surrogacy, raising children without the protections and benefits of marriage, struggling with addiction or living with HIV and AIDS. Moreover, it will be a lifeline for those LGBT teenagers who have no one in their lives to tell them that it gets better.

Does the admission fee subsidize the mentorship program?

For years the Thomas Greene Park has been neglected and left to waste away. But the FoDGP have committed to revitalizing and updating the park with a series of initiatives designed to increase the park's usability and attractiveness.

Brooklyn Boulders has partnered with this nonprofit to host a fundraiser event that will include a silent auction with over 111 items. (111 Items on 1/11/11 if you haven't been following.) The event begins at 6pm and tickets are $20 in advance ($10 for children) and $25/$15 at the door. Because we're a climbing gym all guests will be able to get on the climbing walls and have fun. The event will also feature refreshments, music, a raffle, and childcare for kids 5 and up. Your kids will be allowed to climb the walls as long as they want under the supervision of our after school Kid's League staff.

Brooklyn Boulders is located at 575 Degraw St. on the corner of Degraw and 3rd Ave. in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. All proceeds will go towards refurbishing the adjacent Thomas Greene Park. Auction items range from restaurant gift certificates to climbing school passes to furniture and art. All of our auction items have been donated by local businesses in an effort to show community support for the upkeep of the park.

So come help us upgrade our neighborhood and have a good time doing it. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the gym or by emailing cameron@brooklynboulders.com.

We are also running an online auction leading up to the 1/11/11 event. Again, all proceeds are going to the park. The online auction can be found at Biddingforgood.com/douglassgreenepark.
