Born in Haiti, Marc Baptiste moved to the U.S. at a young age. He studied Graphic Design and Advertising after which he promptly began his career as a photographer shooting collections in Paris and New York for various magazines. During his career, Marc’s  work  has  appeared  within  and  on  the  covers  of  international  magazines  such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar (US & Latin America), Elle (French, US & UK), Esquire, Ebony, Essence, Rollingstone, Maxim and Cosmopolitan.   He  is  also a  favored  guest  photographer  on  GNTM (Germany’s  Next  Top  Model)  alongside  Heidi  Klum. Marc is a Hollywood and music world favorite: his star‐studded client list includes Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Ann Hathaway, Kanye West, Tina Fey, Selena Gomez, Ed Westwick, Sheryl Crow, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendez, Drew Barrymore, including The First Lady Michelle Obama. His work with celebrities has resulted in a variety of philanthropic collaborations including photographing the “DKNY / Rock the Vote” campaign with Eva Mendez and Kate Bosworth. A UNICEF campaign with singer Ayo, and a campaign for the “Keep a Child Alive” organization with Alicia Keys, David Byrne, Lorraine Bracco, Cynthia Nixon and Lenny Kravitz. Marc  has  released  three  books  celebrating  the  female  form:  Beautiful – Nudes  by  Marc  Baptiste,  in  2001,  followed  by  Intimate  in  2003,  and  Innocent,  in  2006. Join Haiti Cultural Exchange for the first free screening leading up to HCX | Haiti Film Fest 2013, May 10 – 12. This dark comedy follows the story of an escaped zombi who becomes popular after expressing his love for a woman to the press. As a result, a group of politicians exploit the zombi’s growing popularity. The feature film, Les Amours de Zombi (2011, Kreyol with English subtitles), which was awarded the Paul Robeson Best Film Award at the 2011 FESPACO, was also screened during the last HCX | Haiti Film Fest in 2011. The Brooklyn Artists Gym Single-Parent Membership Program offers two (2) artists six months of unlimited access to the Brooklyn Artists Gym open studio space, as well as all membership benefits including salon exhibition opportunities, open critiques, figure drawing, and being a part of a growing network of serious 2D artists. The residency aims to provide studio space and community to single parents who need studio space and have difficulty paying for a studio. For the purposes of this program, a single parent is someone raising a child or children under 18 years of age who is not living with another caregiver (in the form of spouse, boy- or girlfriend, grandparent or other relative, or partner).
