My name is Lindsay Mack, and I am a certified holistic health practitioner based in both Brooklyn and Manhattan. I am currently accepting new clients, and I wanted to offer my services!

I am a recent graduate of IiN in NYC, as well as Holistic MBA. I am a member of the Int'l Association for Health Coaches, and a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I am the co-owner and co-founder of Sophrosune Wellness, located in Manhattan. I have taught workshops in NJ and NY, and for companies such as Barclays bank and Satya Jewelry. (check out my website, sophrosunewellness.com here!)

I work out of my home in Brooklyn half of the week, and in Manhattan during the other half. It would be a joy to work with you in my home, or in yours.

I offer several wellness packages (3-4 hour intensive, 30 day, 90 day, 6 month) that can be tailored to your specifications! My prices are upon request, and I offer sliding scale and payment plans.

My specialties regarding client services include: cupboard cleanses/kitchen makeovers, weight loss, converting to a different diet (vegan, gluten free, etc), creating meal plans, helping busy moms (or dads!) with fast, easy, and healthy meals, working to naturally ease the symptoms of anxiety, depression, SAD with lifestyle/nutritional changes, and working with parents to find nutritional/holistic solutions for their child who is diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I have phenomenal references and client testimonials, also upon request!

I do NOT believe in crash dieting, deprivation, and I will never ask you to make drastic changes to your lifestyle or diet! I also don't believe in one way of eating! We will work together over a period of time to address your health and wellness concerns, and make deliberate changes over time to ensure that steps you take together will be lasting.

My consultations are 45 minutes, normally $50, but for my fellow Brooklynites I am happy to offer the consult at $40! Email me at lindsay@sophrosunewellness for any questions, to book a consult, and to inquire about pricing.

Thank you so much!

Namaste,
Lindsay

I'll also add that:

Because the landlords and homeowners skimp on heat, fires disproprtionately affect low income people, who are forced to use their stoves (open flame...) or plug based electric heaters for heat.

As a result, I suspect last year's mild winter, combined with rigorous DOB and HPD code enforcement re: providing adequate heat saved lives.

I also suspect that the "gentrification" of NYC, (which has increased average income in many areas) resulted in less deaths, because it may have allowed the fire department to focus its limited resources on the areas which are most at risk: Areas in which the housing stock is poor, and/or residents resort to unsafe methods to heat their homes, and/or residents live in crowded conditions.

Plus the fact that all apartments now have fire and CO detectors. If you notice, many times it's when the smoke detectors aren't working that there are the fatalities. So when all these things are combined it helps to save lives.

Despite the closure of this and many other NYC firehouses, and a cut back on staffing which reduced the number of firemen per company, NYC had the lowest number of fire deaths in a century.

The Hattie carthan After Church market has begun its recruitment for the 2012 market basket season.! We invite your participation in our weekly basket program this year and hope that you see this as a valuable opportunity to participate in and support local small scale agriculture in Bedford Stuyvesant. Supporting local small scale farmers in your community is ultimately a bonafide way to grow your connection to your food and place.

The Hattie Carthan After Church Mixed Basket Program program offers participants 5 varieties of local fruits and vegetables along with farm fresh herbs and eggs at a discounted price. Pickup for the Sunday basket happens each Sunday between 2pm and 3pm at the young farmers market located at 49 Van Buren Place between Tompkins and Throop. Unlike a traditional CSA, Mixed Basket participants enrolled in our weekly basket program pay on a monthly basis as we understand that large upfront costs may be prohibitive to the participation of some community members. We also happily accept alternative forms of payment such as: food stamps (EBT), SFMNP, WIC, Healthbucks and Freshchecks. Most importantly, participants enjoy a relationship with local urban farmers, food educators, youths and community members that keep the Hattie Carthan legacy alive in Bedford-Stuyvesant and can rest-assured that the food they are taking home is grown in an environment that is free of pesticides and exploitation. To sign on to our basket program please fill an application here: http://www.hattiecarthancommunitymarket.com/#!__mixed-basket . Please mail completed applications to Yonnette Fleming; 619 Willoughby Avenue, Floor 2 Brooklyn, NY 11238 or email to hattiecarthancommunitymarket@yahoo.com. Applications are due by July 1st, 2012

To learn more about our community revitalization efforts which resulted in the conversion of an abandoned lot on Clifton place into a farmers market in 2009 and a second lot into a thriving herb farm and market in 2011, please visit our website and read our market reports at http://www.hattiecarthancommunitymarket.

We thank you in advance for supporting our food justice work in the Bedford Stuyvesant community.

Date: Sunday, January 15, 2012
Time: 2:00pm-3:30 PM

Meditation can calm your mind and body, give you an increased sense of well-being or even provide you with a direct path to enlightenment. Different people need and find different things in this practice, but in the final analysis we all come for the same thing: a more content experience of everyday life.

No experience is required, everyone is welcome. We will have several periods of silent sitting meditation and walking meditation, plus a short talk, discussion, and a question and answer period

The workshop will be led by Genno Linda King, a fellow yoga student at Yoga Sole and Rinzai Zen practitioner of 16 years.

Environments are like tape recorders – every experience that happens in them leaves a lasting impression. A Shamanic Clearing is a thorough rite of renewal for your home or workplace, removing harmful energies and preventing their return.

A cleansed and blessed environment can more easily support you and your endeavors, clearing away old and stagnant vibrations while simultaneously inviting uplifting and energizing ones. Turn your home environment into your sanctuary and give your workplace an edge over your competitors.

Available for offices and storefronts as well, a Shamanic Clearing & Blessing can provide enhanced visibility, attract clients and customers, boost workplace morale and efficiency, and increase sales by encouraging repeat patronage.

You might want to consider a Shamanic Clearing & Blessing:
•When moving into a new home or business establishment
•To help sell or rent real estate
•During a major life or business transition
•To help bolster creativity and innovation
•If you’ve been having a hard time attracting what you want
•During a stressful period in life or work
•After a long illness, passing away, or divorce
•To help invite new opportunities

A typical Shamanic Clearing & Blessing includes a smudging of the space with the embers of herbs. Oils and herbal infusions may be used in a ritual washing of floors, windowsills, and mantles. Doors and windows may be prayerfully anointed to protect the space and invite that which is desired.
