Have they or the mother been vetted? Female kittens can be fixed as young as 8wks or 2lbs in weight. Once the mother is through nursing she should also be fixed. The kittens can get their first FVRCP jabs at 8wks of age but they may want to wait to give them their rabies jabs, depends on the vet. Please do not adopt them out without charging at least a nominal fee as this will attract bunchers, dealers, collectors and gift givers who think a kitten is a fun present but do not understand the lifelong commitment required. $25 minimum but if they have seen a vet, who will usually charge a discount for a group of kittens, $50 is acceptable. If you would like information on low cost vets in your area let me know. Generally it is better to adopt kittens this young in pairs or to another home with a young, playful, friendly animal (cat or dog). Introducing a kitten into a home with an older animal can cause quite a bit of stress to that senior animal as the kitten will want to play constantly and that stress can lead to illness down the road (been there done that). As they are so young they will still need socialization to learn not to do some of the strange behaviors people complain about with single cats who are not raised with other cats. Such as climbing up their legs, pouncing on their heads, biting, suckling, etc. They learn not to do these things from other cats; for as much as one might love them we are not cats and cannot teach appropriate behavior the way another cat can. This is why adopting in pairs or with another young animal is preferential to the long term well being of the kitten and the success of the future adoption. Lastly should an adoption not work out be prepared to take the kitten back, even up to a year later as some people love them when they are little but once they are older suddenly they are too much work or life circumstances change and they cannot keep them as they did not think long term when adopting. Make sure anyone you adopt to understand this or these kittens may wind up in the city shelter where they have little to no chance of adoption.

THis story started when grocery downstairs threw out a cat that was living there. She would always be there alone, at night... my roommate and I fed her for several months, and when it started getting colder, and hurricane Sandy was approaching, we finally took her in. She turned out to be the smartest and nicest cat I have ever met, and.. pregnant! She gave birth to 4 beautiful kitties. They are now 6 weeks old. And though they are so cute and smart, we can not keep them in our small apartment. We are keeping mom cat of course. One kitten has already been adopted by my friend. And 3 girls left. They are looking for a good loving home, they will bring you a lot of joy! KItten # 1 <img src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/91976769@N07/8359984948/"> This one is a sweetheart. She likes to play, but she is gentle and calm <img src="http://brooklynian.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" /> Kitten # 2 <img src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/91976769@N07/8358921483/"> This little crazy ball of fur has a LOT of energy. She likes to play most of all. She is very fun! Kitten # 3 <img src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/91976769@N07/8359985124/"> This kitty is also playful, plus she is very very smart. She was the first to learn how to go to a litter box. And then showed her sisters how to. I bet you can teach her some tricks. See pictures below. PM me for details.

I have seen your flyers. My heart goes out to you. I understand how devestated you must be. Keep posting the flyers - she will turn up. Chances are she is right around where she escaped. If you want to borrow a humane trap then PM me. Sometimes that works. She has more than likely taken up with a feral cat colony since there are so many right around you. I would recommend looking around very early in the morning, at dusk and very late to see if you can see her. Where she was lost is a very busy area and chances are she hides during the day and you won't see her during broad daylight. E-mail The Mayor's Alliance and have them send out an e-mail to their lists of people. Be sure to include a photo with your e-mail. Set out some warm fried chicken at night when it gets a little quiet and see what cats come over to it. You may have to sit and wait for a while. See where the cats come from and look for her there. And if she doesn't turn up soon then increase the reward. Good luck!

Try going to nearby vets, at least 2 diff ones, and ask them if you can put up signs for her. Also advertise her as missing on tabby tracker and craigslist. You can also go around your area early in the mornings calling for your cat with kitty's fav treats. Do it early before most ppl get up, 6AM if not earlier so the street noise will be low and kitty may be brave enough to come to you. Keep checking at the shelter as they are known to make errors even with microchipped cats. Also make sure your microchip info is up to date - you can register her with the company as lost as well.

Hi all, My cat managed to sneak out of our building near Nostrand and Park while I was out of town. She's fully grown, six year old female, golden brown with stripes, green eyes, a big belly that hangs low. She has no collar and no white markings. She's very sweet once she feels secure but she never goes outside until this unfortunate incident so she may be very scared unless she was taken inside. I've hung hundreds of fliers and searched for days to no avail. I've accessed backyards, talked to all neighbors and nearby businesses, offered $200 reward, I've checked the shelters (she is microchipped. ) What other places/sites should I try? 404-556-7615. Thanks for your help and guidance during this painful time.
