El Regresso (the return) is the going back to the self, a reflection, a necessity. After working and investigating the individual journey within a large community of performers for so many years, Mariangela López is going back to her own body as an attempt to understand her own ideas from her own physicality and inner world. She is using the power of the group as a catalytic energy that will guide her through this voyage. In this process she is transposing the relationship of the group and herself; how can they be present in the solo performer? Obama’s election highlighted racial discourse in various ways: contentious debates about a “post-racial society”, racist attacks by the Right, conflicting and ambivalent responses from the Left, and the differing emotions, expectations, achievements, and disappointments that his term has had for white people and people of color. TWO BROOKLYN ENSEMBLES COLLABORATE IN WORKSHOP/PERFORMANCE SERIES Bella Voce Singers and Artichoke Dance Company present “Poetry In Motion” This December the groups join forces to offer joint performance and educational programming with the Poetry in Motion project, which will bring original vocal music and dance works to church spaces. In addition to performances, the directors of each organization will lead workshops focusing on one of the works. Participants will be introduced to the creative and working processes employed by each group, will learn the music or choreography, and can perform in the short work if they so choose at one or both performances. The festival will feature film and video screenings, panel discussions, theatrical presentations, musical performances, visual and audio installations, live painting, and even a wine tasting. Taking up the entirety of the massive Brooklyn Lyceum space, the 2012 RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL builds on the success of the previous two festivals, and promises to spark lively discussions about remix in all forms of art. This year, RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL is proud to announce its partnership with the MAshRome Film Festival in Rome, Italy. MAshRome Film Fest is the first festival in Italy dedicated to mash up and remix. MAshRome will presents Archet-Hip-Hop, The Greek Theatre In Remix. Described as Greek theatre meets contemporary arts, the performance mixes theatre, cinema, music, and dance mixed all together on the same stage, to give life to a new language. Archet-Hip-Hop, The Greek Theatre In Remix is an experimental retelling of Paolo Pasolini's 1969 film Medea, creating a unique retelling of the classic greek tragedy. Featuring composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. This year’s exciting line-up includes: • Where Classics and Cartoons Collide with Comic book artist R. 4th Annual Vital Vox Vocal Festival at Roulette

Over the course of two diverse evenings at Brooklyn's Roulette, the fourth annual Vital Vox vocal festival will explore the theme of 'vox electronics', featuring artists who expand their sonic vocabulary with electronics of all kinds. Performances will draw from wide-ranging international influences and genres including jazz, experimental, contemporary, free improvisation, world music, interactive electro-acoustic and audio sampling. Artists include: Pamela Z, Lisa Karrer and David Simons, Sarah Bernstein and Satoshi Takeishi, Philip Hamilton, Sabrina Lastman, and Sasha Bogdanowitsch. We will be having a parade, weaving throughout Bushwick from 3-5pm. Then we will have live performances and music from 5-8pm. Following that will be an After Show with bands such as Cum Blood, at Secret Project Robot, located at 389 Melrose St, around the corner. The goal of the Bushwick Fashion Weekend is to celebrate Fashion in all its unconventional glory! We aim to remind people about how fun and crazy fashion can be once you erase the sometimes oppressive elitist attitude that surrounds and fogs it. The exhibition will illuminate the process of creating clothes, designers working with artists who work with perfumers. The event is about synergy, working together, supporting each other, and feeling proud of who you are!

To coincide with Bushwick Open Studios, the festival will feature a diverse line-up of live music performances, DJs, performance art, film screenings, video and fashion installations. Live music acts include Apollo Heights, Lachi, Ze Luis Quartet, Push Method, Argotec, and Redheadphone . DJs include hipster fave Punches, Jeannie Hopper of Liquid Sound Lounge, Bruce Tantum from Time Out NY, and Kervyn Mark from Melting Pot. Caridad Sola will curate provocative performance art throughout the space. THE MAMMAL YEARS Album Release Party : Sunday, April 15 @ 6pm Performance artist and singer-songwriter Dan Fishback releases The Mammal Years, his first full-length solo album in four years, featuring full-band arrangements of songs he’s developed in New York’s anti-folk scene over the past decade.
