The Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) is located at 327 7th Street, on the 2nd floor, between 4th & 5th Avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn. CAE is a multi-racial, intergenerational, community-based, nonprofit organization that develops and implements violence prevention programs. We have a large exercise/rehearsal space available for hourly rent: 16' x 31', high ceilings, wood floor. Large mirror (27.5' x 7') covers most of one wall, and the room has two large windows and gets lots of natural light. Located on the second floor (walk up) in a beautiful, secure building on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Available equipment includes punching bags (one hanging, one standing), blue exercise mats, free weights, and foam targets. Available amenities include: heat, A/C, ceiling fans, restrooms, drinking water, changing room. In the past, renters have used our space for preschool, martial arts, dance, music and arts workshops, yoga, meditation, birthday parties, presentations, etc. If you are interested, please reply to this ad or give us a call at 718-788-1775 and schedule a time to check out the space. Responsible, mature musician in search of housing

I am a mature and responsible acoustic musician (guitar, banjo, etc.) who has recently returned to New York. I'm looking to find a place to live closer to the Brooklyn music scene (I'm currently in St. Albans, Queens). I'm an easy going straight male who doesn't drink, use recreational drugs, or smoke anything, so I prefer housemates without chronic substance-abuse problems, although sensible drinking is okay with me. I also eat sensibly and try to stick to a healthy lifestyle. It would be nice to live with other musicians or creative types, or at least with people who appreciate music and the creatives. I am in search of a communal situation (the more people, the cheaper, hopefully), a barter situation, a barter for reduced rent, or just the traditional roommate or housemate arrangement if the price is right. I can't do heavy construction work or a lot of heavy lifting, but I enjoy doing moderate indoor and outdoor manual labor. Please let me know if you're interested!

The Heart of Brooklyn (located on Washington near Lincoln) does similar work. ...while PACC and HoB have a bias that is "pro" the area they cover, they also want new businesses to succeed. ...which makes them have a different focus that a broker.

Have you tried the Pratt Area Community Council? They run a "open up the gates" trolley tour on weekends, wherein they show new small businesses the sites presently available, and work closely with the NYC SBA.
