Finally get your business plan done and have fun doing it! Do you stress out at the mere thought of planning your business? But you know how important it is to have clear goals and action steps for your business to succeed. This workshop is designed just for you! Instead of staying stuck and frustrated, how about having fun while moving forward with the Right Brain Business Plan 1-1/2 day workshop on June 7th & 8th, Friday night 7-9:45PM and Saturday 9AM-4:45PM in Brooklyn.

This interactive workshop is based on the bestselling book The Right Brain Business Plan by author/coach Jennifer Lee and led by licensed facilitator & artist, Karen Friedland. You will learn a visual, creative and accessible process to illucidate your vision, goals and actions. Even the traditional (a.k.a. “intimidating”) parts like competitive analysis, marketing and finances will be tackled in a way that’s creative, inspiring, engaging and expressive (just like YOU!)

This fun and interactive workshop is perfect for you if…

* You've tried to do a business plan the "traditional way" and you got stuck, overwhelmed, and demotivated
* You already have a business plan, but you need to breathe new life into it
*		You can't stand spreadsheets
*		Numbers numb you out
* AND you’d be a heck of a lot happier planning your business in the same intuitive, authentic, and expressive way that you live your creative life (yes, indeed, it can be that fun and fulfilling!)

You get the following (and much, much more!) from this workshop:

*	Detailed, do-able assignments… that deal with all the parts of a business plan, from start to finish
*	Intuitive exercises and inspiring materials… that tap into your natural creative genius, transforming drudgery into joy
*	Hands-on support, guidance, and accountability… from a licensed facilitator plus the wisdom and perspectives of your fellow creative cohorts in the circle
*	A copy of the best-selling book The Right-Brain Business Plan: A Creative, Visual Map for Success by Jennifer Lee
*	A follow up coaching session with your facilitator

Register here ($340).

Open to writers of all levels and genres.

Use your own life stories to explore the connection between your senses, emotions, and thoughts. Through accessible tools, such as visualizations, simple physical exercises, and writing prompts, develop your voice as a writer.

•	Inhabit the world of your writing through the senses.
•	Slow down and settle into your writing to uncover intrinsic structure.
•	Set authentic creative goals and learn to work within them effectively.
•	Complete two or three short pieces.

The focus of the approach is on what is felt and "tangible" rather than abstract ideas of "good writing." Writers of all levels and genres learn to bypass judgment and find pleasure in all the stages of the craft.

3.	Curate your Id.
4.	Share your shit.
5.	Motivation & will power is for dieters not writers.
6.	The Secret: Less (effort) is More (art).
7.	Use your body.
8.	Kill the inner critic and trust your choices.
9.	Fire new synapses (& discover the benefits of neuroplasticity).
10.	Write & craft will catch up.

Sense Writing is a pragmatic and innovative approach to writing for artists, performers, writers, and anyone looking to find new dimensions to their work, overcome ineffective creative habits -- and make more art.

A one-day workshop at The Old Stone House dedicated to exploring new ways of creating work. You will use your own life stories to develop a personalized connection to the craft of writing.

- Fully inhabit the world of your writing through the senses
- Investigate and refine the link between simple physical patterning, expanded imagination, and craft.
- Complete one to two short pieces about your life.

Because the focus of the workshop is on what is felt and "tangible" rather than abstract ideas of "good writing," writers of all levels and genres learn to find pleasure in all the stages of the craft.

Psst! Did you know there’s a thriving book trade community on Twitter? Have you wondered how you can get more “likes” for your novel’s Facebook page? And are you currently participating in the hub for close to 10 million dedicated booklovers online? In this upcoming workshop, Diane Saarinen of the Saima Agency will discuss your author platform – what it is, why you need one and how to build one using social media. You’ll learn:

   * Where to find lists of the current Twitter handles of literary agents, book bloggers, publishers and reviewers
* How one author with just 50 followers was able to reach over 20,000 “tweeps” in less than one hour
* Goodreads, Shelfari, Library Thing…which of these three are most worth your valuable time?

At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a Social Media for Authors Action Plan, and a positive attitude towards reaching more readers. A working basic knowledge of Twitter and Facebook a plus but not necessary. Bonus: Raffle! One attendee of the workshop wins a free one-hour phone consult with Diane on any topic related to book publicity.

Diane Saarinen’s Using Social Media to Build Your Author Platform workshop is a fantastic introduction for authors who know they need to market their work via social media, but don’t know where to start. Diane’s engaging, concise approach offers authors invaluable strategies & tips to reach more readers and connect with industry peers. You will leave her class armed with an action plan and the confidence to make it happen. — Adelaide Lancaster, founder In Good Company

On Sunday June 3rd from 1-6pm, artists and their communities will gather at The Flock to showcase and engage with the arts under the summer sun at the Putnam Triangle Plaza (on Fulton and Putnam) in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NY. Live music, art exhibitions, and workshops will be available for creative folks of all ages. DJ Lynnee Denise will be providing the musical soundtrack for the event in addition to a live performance by Sophia Urista.

New Yorkers will be invited to Brooklyn to peruse artwork, watch performances, shop for various goods, support small local businesses and participate in creative workshops. 15 vendors/ artists (of many mediums)/ artist educators will set up shop for one day only, providing a space for anyone, children and adults, to experience a variety of artwork in one space at their leisure. The Flock 2012 will focus on supporting creative small business models, that have become characteristic of Brooklyn, through its collaboration with the FAB (Fulton Area Business Alliance) and Sacred Brooklyn Yoga and Movement Studio. Come join us for an afternoon of music, dancing, crafting, and celebrating art in its many forms!
