Japanese not so good as there is a lot of soy, which has the same protein in it as gluten that you should be avoiding. Also, tempura, shumai, all have wheat. Italian is very difficult as the pasta and bread are VERY tempting. Nouvelle American can be nice, especially look out for risotto as a side dish instead of pasta or cous cous, etc. If your meat, fish or chicken have a sauce or a stuffing, ask the waiter if there's any wheat (or barley, etc.) in those. If they don't know, ask them to ask the chef. They're getting used to that and are usually nice about it.

it's possible to buy flash cards that ask if there's gluten in the food in various languages. not sure where. Try http://www.glutenfreemall.com/ or http://www.celiac.com

If the only food you are avoiding is wheat, it's not that difficult to avoid the obvious, but gluten comes in many forms and in other grains. Also, it's always possible that something was cooked in a pot or something that formerly held gluten. If you are super sensitive that might matter to you.

Gluten free in the Slope

Sushi? - so long as you stick with the basic stuff

Gluten free in the Slope

OK so it sounds like from here are in you are protien based.
