in the Crown Heights/PLG forum. At her request, and because of the importance of the subject matter, I am cross-posting her post to this forum.

According to the Prospect Heights Patch, regrettably, fairly recently there have been a number of robberies at gunpoint and/or strong-arm muggings on Classon Avenue (near both St. Johns & Dean Streets), as well as the surrounding area (reported by the 77th precinct). These have even occurred in broad daylight. Obviously, this is very concerning for everyone in the community, and likely especially for women walking alone.

So...Wanting to pass the information along so that the community can be as safe and aware as possible...but also wondering if folks might have some ideas about what might be possible in order to get some regular police-presence /foot-patrol on Classon where there are fewer businesses (and therefore fewer eyes monitoring the street activities), and therefore where robbers apparently feel they are less likely to be seen and caught victimizing someone.

Below are a couple of the links to the recent stories noted by the PHP, and each of these also provides a bit of information on other recent similarly unfortunate street-robbery events nearby. (Note to Moderator: Perhaps it would be helpful if this information could also be posted to the Prospect Heights forum, as these crimes are happening in both of the adjoining neighborhoods.)
