I genuinely think that New Yorkers would be more discerning than Washingtonians in this situation. I went to college in D.C., and the city is not the cultural haven that article pretends it is. Performing arts-wise, it's got the Kennedy Center and...the Kennedy Center. He is a very high quality player. Lots of average violists play out of tune.
