Dear community,

You are cordially invited to attend our winter dreams soltice celebration at the farm. The afternoon celebration will feature a local meal, herbal beverages, tonics, elixirs, wreath crafting, storytelling around the fire and seeding our deep intentions for our 2013 farming season. If you have come to the markets and attended events and hold deep longing to find a way to deepen with the spirits of place or feel like you would like to understand deep ecology or become more involved with our work, this may be a great opening for you. Please let us know whether you are interested in applying for our one year herbal apprenticeships on the farm in 2013 so that we can place you on our priority list.

“Solstice” comes from two Latin words: sol meaning "sun" and sistere meaning “to stand still” because it appeared as though the sun and moon had stopped moving across the sky. This longest night of the year, followed by a renewal of the sun, demonstrates the cyclical order of the cosmos. In this way, celebrating the solstice can be a beautiful remembrance that our lives are part of a larger order, always changing, always renewing. wisdom consists in knowing one’s place in any given cycle, and what kinds of action (or restraint of action) are appropriate for that phase. Attuning our senses to the subtle changes and cycles of the seasons help us attune more lovingly to the subtle changes and cycles in ourselves. Rituals serve as touchstones to help us cultivate an attitude of receptiveness and appreciation of life.

Please join us if you are looking to replace old holiday consumeristic programs and attitudes which deplete your life force and put you further in debt with holistic practises that are founded on love of nature, on respect for the always renewing cycles of life, and on faith in the future. If you are an old farmer or community gardener that has tended the fields, talked to your plants and struggled with how to erradicate whiteflies from your greens all season and just long for an outdoor space to connect beyond politics and competition please come eat and play with us .
