I think they have the worst customer service ever!! compare to their siblings else where. the workers just seems to hangout and don't give a damn about their work.
I like to stick it to The Man, The Man happens to be Liberal in NYC(power Structure).

The workers at the Brooklyn Ikea make DMV employees seem like very peppy Southern Belles. They really seem to go out of their way to be so unpleasant. It is unbelievable really.
Every time i go to the brooklyn ikea, i go early to avoid people. and every time, it takes about half hour to an hour to check out. they always stop to talk to friends, or don't know how to use the damn machines.
If i go to any other ikea in the northeast early in the morning(and i've been to them all), they are always fast and never take that long, unless on the weekends :p.
also, what's up with not having a blasted self check out line?!
who the hell is hiring them!!! they aren't helpful at all.
even their guys if you miss something after walking the long walk near the self serve area. they usually could print out what you need if you missed it. even when nobody is there, they'll go oh back back to the department etc...
what bull!!! at other ikeas, if you miss some items, they'll be happy to print out what you need.
I was obviously at the ikea this morning lol.
anyway the the cashier suck balls.
I hate Ikea and everything it stands for. why would anyone put themselves through that experience by choice is beyond me. not to mention the people I've met that say they go there just to browse and eat cheap food, seriously? I guess if your dead set on buying cheap crap that everyone else in nYC has in their home as well, and you want to support a company that provides customer service like that, doesn't train their employees, is designed to make you walk through their entire sales floor multiple times to find something, and manufactures their products (which are designed to break if you breath on them) in CHINA, DEAL WITH IT YOU DESERVE IT!
I like their knobs :p and small things. I hate their furniture mostly.
also like their sofa's cause its pretty small.
call me cheap :p, but I give some times my poorer tenants new furniture.
You really want to see awful customer service check out the Home Depot in Bed-Stuy.
Completely disagree.
I've been at least a dozen times and I never have problems finding an employee and that person can almost always point me in the right direction.
Do you suppose it has anything to do with surly customers? Nah, that's too simple.
I don't love them, but I still go. I at least have the luxury to go on weekdays when they aren't as crowded. On my last few trips to Ikea (I do love some of their rugs and things other than furniture) I practically walked the entire showroom to find an employ to help me. They were friendly enough when I found them but just finding one was the hard part. And they never have enough checkers, which means standing in line 20+ minutes because only one register is open. I pretty much never go to Target anymore because they were always out of half the things on my list.
Lowes seems to have had a change recently, for the better. They bought a bunch of new carts (I'm pretty sure they had about 8 before, half of which were being used by employees) and now have more lanes open and the employees have clearly been told to be friendly and helpful.
I have no problem with them. I go there just to browse & eat cheap food, seriously. My kids like to play in the ball room. I have some of their furniture; yes it's mediocre, but it's cheap and serves its purpose.
I've never really had too long a wait at the cash register, I will admit it can be hard to get someone to help you sometimes. Obviously, some times are better than others.
