If one is searching for a job in the Art world, be it at a gallery or a museum, what resources would be most useful? I have a friend (UNC Chapel Hill graduate) who is looking for an entry level job in a gallery or museum, but it seems as though she is struggling to make connections with the right people. I know she has been scouring the NYFA site, but if there is anyone who could point her in the right direction....

I work at a gallery and found my job from NYFA, as have most people I know. What sort of experience does your friend have? Does she know any who works at a gallery or museum? Why type of job is she looking for? Most galleries tend to need more administrative workers and museums are varied, from curatorial (though generally you need an advanced degree for that) to visitor services to registrars. But NYFA is honestly the best resource there is.

Hi - board mod here The neighborhood boards are really for nabe stuff. Check out THE RULES linked at the top of every page. The good news is, we have other boards for non-place-specific conversation, which is where I'm moving this thread.
idealist.org has listings from all the big non-profits (like museums), and most places like, say, the Brooklyn Museum, have a link on their own sites with their jobs listings -
