Does anyone know what this "Butternut Market" place on Lewis Ave is going to be? They have a sign up and I saw they were listed on the SOLA flyers, but I have no idea what kind of shop it is.
Anyone know?

Hi Slopelisa, I don't know the exact address. I've passed it on my way to and from the train. I think it's on Lewis between Halsey and Macon. It doesn't really look like much is going on in the store (I haven't seen anyone coming in and out), but there is a sign that says "butternut market" and they are listed in the flyer for the Shops of Lewis Ave street fair. I'm hoping and PRAYING that it's a fruit/veggie stand. I still haven't found a fruit/veggie stand that I like in the Stuy.

So I asked one of the women at BreadStuy this morning and she said that it's going to be some sort of specialty/gourmet market (like Citarella maybe). It's supposed to open up at the end of the year. Hopefully they'll have at least SOME produce..

Hi all.....first of all, yes, I am the same bothersome daveinbedstuy as on the brownstoner!!!
I am developing and backing Butternut Market along with Ardenia from Solomon's Porch. It will be a store similar to Provisions and Chop Chop (Smith St.) We will offer a variety of prepared foods..salads, veggies, meat & fish dishes. They will mostly be cold dishes to take home (there will be very limited seating) plus we will have a few hot dishes each day (including rotisserie chickens).
We will have produce...fruits and veggies and shelves full of things like rice, pasta, oils & vinegars, cookies, breads, cheeses and other dairy along with drinks and frozen items (gelato, yogurt).
The building is still under renovation and it has been SLOW. Contractors should be visible SOON after the owners original stop work order is lifted.
PLEASE eamail me with whatever suggestions you have as to what you want, what you need. Thanks so much.
Sorry...366 Lewis Ave...between Macon & halsey, across from the school. Next door will be a wine bar and a florist and there is an Italian restaurant coming to the NW corner of Halsey & Lewis
